I'm in Eagle Mountain. No chickens yet, it's against our HOA rules but allowed in the city...I'm still debating what to do. We have a privacy fence so I figure as long as the coop is shorter than that I hopefully wouldn't get caught. I'm on BYC trying to gather as much information as I can to make the right decisions from the start.

Did I hear correctly that SLC does a "Coop Tour"? I wonder if they do one for Utah county as well. Would be nice to see what others have done in person and get to know other chicken people as well.

i'm interested to know what type of predators the city dwellers are seeing around here as a problem. i'm in slc on the east side in a neighborhood with 1/4 acre lots and not any close wooded areas for the critters live in. i'm trying to decide how much daytime predator proofing i need for my in ground chainlink run. it is not currently covered.

I'd say raccoons, skunks, cats, dogs, and rats. For raccoons, their populations increase when they are in urban areas.
Sounds like you have it covered.
