Did I see her advertised on KSL? I thought, man, wish I lived closer! She's pretty, bet she would work out fine here. I have a bossy leghorn that would put her in her place. Not that my leghorn is mean to the point of actually pecking, but for some reason, all she has to do is move towards the others, and they move out of the way.
I live in Spanish Fork though. Oh, and I have a real bossy little mottled bantam that has actually gone after new a comer, grabbing feathers and hanging on! She settled down once the new comer had been here for a while.

Cynthia-Yes she has been on ksl. She is ornery! We have tried the isolation in the garage, she has been very sweet out there, still laying eggs in the morning, stopped squawking completely. But the others have been so happy without "the boss"-- we are still going to give her away. We have a guy that called that will come to get her Friday, I think it will work out great If she starts out in a new place I think it will tame her down just fine

Had he not called I would have gladly driven her down to you! We feel like we cannot leave them for the day without keeping an eye out because our little bantam has been tore up enough she is a little delicate right now and do not want her re-injured or killed. The other 7 have been so happy, dust bathing, eating better, no fighting at all so I think taking her out permanently will be a good thing

Four of the others would not even come in the coop at night with her in there, they opted to sleep outside in the run on a perch out there, I would bring them in manually but no matter how sleepy they would still end up back outside. The very first night without the boss they were all in the coop snuggled up to each other sleeping so happily, and every night since. Better vibe going on in the flock now! And less worry for us, I just cannot stand to see one bleeding and/or beat up.

It is too bad though-- it is hard to see one go, she was our favorite as a chick, the little chipmunk type EE, eyeliner and all, so cute! Maybe we will have to add a pair in the spring and see if we can try again. I will definitely miss the cool olive eggs

I have some pure black right now, about a month old. And, I have some in my bator that are due to hatch any time..due tomorrow, I have one pip..last I looked. Pretty eggs! These will be ready to lay come late spring or early summer. So, if you are going to be down this way in a couple of months or so, and have a place for them, let me know. I put them out with heat once they are a couple of weeks old. I have the big red heat lamp in my nursery hutch. They do great.

Oh Oh Oh OH!!! Black EE?? Are they hatching from blue eggs, please say yes! I would love love love to come get me a purdy black EE

They are already hatched! I will post pictures of mom and the babies..a while ago when they could be out. One of the babies in the group is a Black Copper Maran, pure, which you probably already know, is what they use to make EE's with another breed, which I can't remember now for the life of me.
They are out in a coop with mom..getting bigger every day, and yes! They came from blue, and blue/green eggs, more blue than green. Honest!
You can see the puffy cheeks on them. The mom is a cochin bantam. She went broody, I had some eggs in the bator.

Come get them all..I haven't sold any yet. Only 5 dollars each at this point.

Then you should get at least one sweet baby! Just kidding, they are alll sweet..and won't pick on your others!!!

That was on my wish list! Oh and I just saw the pictures now I am even more excited lol! Now I am not sad about my little Zirk anymore. Well not as much anyway. This improves my mood immensely

One is starting to zip away..

They are EE's, just don't know if they are going to be the chipmunk color, or what?
I did know with the black ones, that I had a chance, because that's what I wanted, a black one, and the gal that advertised said that most were hatching out black. She wasn't kidding.

Oh you are having big fun at your house. I would love to hatch chicks. I would love to have a hundred chickens. But my husband would not love that at all haha. He is already signed up to make our run bigger this spring, and feeling a little anxiety when I tell him how big haha. I do have the solitary cage in the garage i could keep chicks in through the coldest weather coming up. I know integration can be tough, usually the new ones go outside and run around the yard during the day OR we switch and put the chicks in and the big girls out so the hens can see them and get used to them before I put the newbies in with them. But snow could be a factor the next bit and the cold, so what do you think? In the bunny cage until mid Feb, in the garage, will they hate that? I do not know how soon they can be exposed to cold and elements...never raised chicks in the winter, always had chicks from the spring hatch that go outside in May.
