Cynthia, if you don't need show quality and can be patient, I got my SLW from the feed store a couple springs ago.

Also, I plan to hatch some show quality SLW stock in Feb or so- I was going to buy hatching eggs from http://www.utahwarmblood.com/ I am also going to try to hatch some of her Corontation Sussex birds. Maybe even some Lavender Americaunas. And definitely some BCM- she has beautiful BCMs.

Jeremy, I may see if I can work something out with you guys if I buy broilers, and have you guys process them. I'm too squeamish.

Me patient? Me?

Sure I can be patient. Like this I'm patient.

Seriously, if you get some, I would want to know if it is a girl though..and that take more time.

Oh man, just looked up that link..now that's what I'm talking about. Beautiful, SLW's.

Long thread, going through it slowly..but..where is Lisa...check out post number 60! There is a black there, and they are saying pullet. I think you thought they were saying..both the black and the white pullets are usually roos. They are saying that the black/white are usually roos. Am I right? I think so. And, see the last baby? That's what my barred ee looks like..and they say that looks like a pullet! I'm more excited now. I am not seeing three rows of pea comb in my EE's, not even the one that I have for sale, I don't think..going back to picture.

Full face on pic... sort of..

Can't see her on the Index on BYC. I feel like an idiot. Where?? maybe a link? Also, one more time -- are you Ameracaunas (sp?) going to be full size or banty? I'm completely on board if they are not banties.

Thanks!

so sorry, I am so interrupted I can think straight. Kids/husband home - can't get a dang sentence typed.

congrats. i think you are right about the blacks. once you read the thread, sexing ee is easy and you can tell roos from pullets from a very young age. so if you do sell that ee you can get a lot more money for her now you know she is a girl

I'm just a bit worried about the darker red in this one. I want to see what happens though. I think it's a pretty bird. Not too friendly right now, the SLW is more friendly.
But my pure Blue Ameraucana wasn't very friendly either until she started laying. Seems that's how it is with all the ones that start out not so friendly. Then when they start laying, they think I'm the boss, like the roo..lol...

Cynthia hoping you are right about our girls! I was out looking at mine today, out in the coop. They are on the roost tonight all on their own.....they really are getting very pretty. The white is almost all gone...big dark eyes, really really pretty 'girls'. Love them so much already

The combs on mine look really single pea still. One is a little wider but not by much. And very yellow still. So I am being optimistic!

Those ameracaunas of sonew123 are gorgeous gorgeous! Thanks for the link! I cannot wait to see what you hatch, I am excited for you! I really still think your EE is a girl, the new pics you posted, even more convincing, she really truly looks exactly like my white. The tail is exactly the same. My mean EE that I got rid of that laid the olive eggs looked a lot like yours too, same shape of tail, same brown/orange color but mine had more black on the wings and neck. My two laid at 27 and 29 weeks. I really would wait just to be sure, that would be awful if you gave her away only to find out it was a hen and she laid the olive eggs you want so much! The SLW I could not say
hmm.png
I would not go by wattles only tho, like I said mine were huge and red earlier than my other pullets the same age. Has that one made attempts to crow or given you another reason to think roo for certain? We kinda thought ours might be a boy, but she laid at 19 weeks so we were so so relieved.

i understand that feeling. i still was worried until the first eggs. how old is s/he again? and yeah some of mine became a lot more friendly once they started laying

but anyway how about this wind we have?

Holy Cow! My Xmas blowups all blew away, one blew over the truck and left a nice trail from the stand...Grill blew over, all dinged up. DH chased down the street to catch one blow up and could not get it. Big piece of shingles from our neighbors on my porch. Patio chairs all over the yard. Chickens are freaking out, the plastic wrap on the outside of the run all tore off and it was a big dust bowl blowing dirt everywhere out there. It lasted an hour, hour and a half maybe here. Hope you all are ok with no big $ damage! I think we are ok other than the blow ups. I remember a few weeks ago the crazy wind in Farmington and around there, we had zero in Logan that day. Hope you Farmington folks did not get it even worse this time around!

Oh and the green candy canes in my avatar pic are totally sideways lol! The star stayed up though, woohoo!

Thank you! And I can see my little banty hen looks almost identical to hers.

And SURPRISE - last night I got a BLUE full-size egg out of one of my EE's that I've been threatening to sell! So just to make sure this works...Girls? Are you listening? I can sell you to Inge who has lost many chickens to RACOONS....are you sure you want to still lay brown eggs???

And WOW, that wind was so strong last night, all night, I'm surprised our pony isn't in Heber by now!
