Utah!

I didn't keep any BLRW's. They were getting more and more light. How are yours looking? The blue in them is pretty.
Crossing my fingers for my lav. to be a pullet. Sure is pretty.

JF..I also have 20 pullets coming anywhere from the 11th to 13th. All pullets.
Remember my replacements guys? It's almost time for those.
I will have the NH's, Silver Laced Wyondottes, rose comb brow leghorn, Speckled Sussex, and white Orpingtons'. So, if anyone is interested in any of those particular breeds, I will have a few of each. I really want that rose comb leghorn. Great layers, and a different color. I have the straight comb, floppy and cute. Will be ready to replace her by the time the other matures. And, still wanting that SLW! I think mine is a girl..not too happy with the color..yet. I hear that it takes time for them to get the lacing in. The BLRW's I just had, were sure getting there lacing in!
On the NH's, I did have a couple make it, and man, do they mature fast! I am expecting to get eggs from her by mid spring!

Hector is right! That brown bunny is HUGE! Meat?

He's so cute. And fluffy.

Lisa, you do have a mystery chick indeed. I decided to write the guy that I had that low hatch from, and ended up with a chipmunk color, and that tiny black one, but did get that blue that you have. He, or she, was very nice!
They said that one must have flown over the run they were in when he let them out into the run.
Oh well, he says he will send more eggs tomorrow at his expense. No shipping, no money from me!
He said those should have been Blue, Black, and Splash. Now, let's see what Lisa ends up with, or is it your daughter. Sounds like it just may be a bantam..sorry!

Begging for forgiveness.

I owe you money now! Or, another chick.

Of your choice. Araucana, one of these BBS once they hatch, or another of one of those you just got when they hatch. I know what you are thinking, I have enough for now. Just remember, you really do have a chick if you want one. Will be posting pictures of the babies hatched. We'll see then. Maybe you will have gotten rid of a couple of roosters by then. Ha, watch, they will all be pullets!

Cynthia---a bantam makes sense....with your teensy one especially. This one looks awfully small. Maybe! She is mysterious indeed. I wish I knew what she will turn into. Are the possible culprits bantam Ameraucanas or a different breed? Their egg size was bigger though right? Who knows haha! No worries about another. It will all work out! It has been fun to have an excuse to come visit anyway. I do not think I am making another trip down though for quite awhile. Lots of driving north now. To get all my family visited in Idaho :) If someone makes a run to your place that lives closer to me let me know, I might go a little ways to pick another one up just to try to get another possible blue egg layer, but I would buy it of course if I did! So far it looks like I have 1 lav girl to get possible blue eggs---and the EE, hoping one is a girl at least.....and maybe a blue egg layer. So I might try one more, we will see what happens lol! Going to work on finding some polish for my son. I promised :) Let me know how your hatches go though :) Interesting to see what you get from all these eggs you have going on!

Lisa, I am owed some hatching eggs from someone who has polish, so when I do get those and hatch them, I'll let you know if you want to buy one.

Cynthia, I'll get some pictures of my BLRW today. It's interesting- I think I was pretty sure on gender with my GLW at this age, but I still am pretty clueless on most of the BLRW. I'm feeling very confident that the chick I hatched out is a pullet, and will be a gorgeous hen when she's done.

My SLW took forever to get good lacing in. She was hatchery quality, but she still had some pretty fantastic lacing. Don't give up hope yet.

Lisa, that guy wrote me back again. He said he also raises Welsummers, and it sounds like I got an EE, that would be the chipmunk one of course..and that I may have an Iowa Blue chick mix. No bantams. They just may be small. You may actually have a blue ameraucana..because the Iowa Blues I looked at, look more like the little black one could be. The Iowa's are small, they almost look like a type of leghorn. Guess they are good egg layers. They go broody though, unlike the leghorns. So I am guessing the little black one is the Iowa Blue mix. The other is a Welsummer mix, making it an EE with what ever it is he has that makes one. lol..
So, I'm not seeing a mix like that in your chick. He is really upset that this happened, and you could tell he was trying to figure out what I ended up with..with what he has in his flock. He says, I show my birds, I am sorry this happened.
Scott and I have an anniversary coming up next month, and we have a little tradition of heading for SLC for a couple of days just for fun. We have kids up in the Odgen area, and like to try to make it there.
Maybe then would be a good time for us to meet you up north. Hey, sounds like you may get a polish. If those are hatched by then, I could bring one or two of those up from Shinx.

Shinx..do get some pictures up, I will tell you if mine were looking like yours. I also had a hard time with even thinking boy or girl. Those tails didn't want to come in for a long time, they were just starting when I placed them a few days ago. And, my Silver Laced that I kept from McMurray is starting to show some white, but I have heard that they take a while, so, will wait. I've had them for a while now. Will be interesting. I love learning all the different things/ways about chickens..how fast some mature, and others don't, how lacing comes out sooner than others, how some combs are this and others that..list goes on..oh, and how Lisa can get a mystery chick.

Whew.. I am now thinking you just have a small blue A. Lisa. Unless some orange shows up on her...or grey.

Your baby doesn't look this dark at all..

Cynthia--Interesting! I love the learning part too, there really is no end to all of the chicken info :) Thanks for the info. Let me know if you go to Ogden for sure. That is 40 min not a bad drive at all and we do go there lots.

Your brown chipmunk then could be Ameraucana mom and Welsummer dad----how fun is that! I will keep you posted on how this one develops. Glad to hear there are no bantams though---one broody girl is all we can handle really....although it made my son excited, he loves the little ones haha!

So maybe mine came from an Ameraucana hen that was properly fertilized by the right roo....will have to see. She is really buff colored still so far. The feathers coming in look---white so far. But where those blues have a kind of lacy look to their feathers-light with dark tips---maybe it just will show up later? I never have had a blue chick so I have no idea. She is a cute little thing. I have tried putting the lavs in with the babies, because if there is only one girl I want her to have buddies if I end up putting her in the coop without the other lav---the boyish lav is EXTREMELY aggressive and hunts the newbies down, pecks..had to move him out. Will try it an a few doses with him to see if it will work. The girlish lav is sweet with them. And the baby blue am----gets right in both the lavs face, not scared of them at all.....pretty silly watching them. I love how she is so tiny and yet so fearless. The two EE's are actually becoming my favorite, they are so so mellow, and sweet...laid back personalities. Easy to hold them.

Sphinx---I remembered about your polish eggs---it is a matter of getting my son to wait. He is mad I have so many others, and not the ones he wanted lol!
Do let me know when you get them---if we do not have any yet I will definitely get some from you if you have some for sale :)

Hey Cynthia---I am thinking here---if the olive eggers are bred by using BCM roosters over a blue egg laying Am hen, then wouldn't it be possible for your chipmunk--with a dark egg laying Welsummer dad over a blue egg laying Am. hen to lay......the OLIVE EGGS!!! you have been wanting? How cool would that be?

Look I found this link, I think so!

at least there is a good chance!(Now watch it be a boy

Oh my goodness, and it's from sonew herself saying that! I think my black girl..is a girl..I can hardly wait for her to lay! She is looking more and more girl. I'm not even worried at this point..now watch! lol..
I have my lavender outside in the small coop run today. All of the young ones are having a hay day! It's so nice out. They are flapping their wings, running around like little maniacs! I threw some scratch in the run, they love it. The pencils have been eating it for a while..cleaned all the coops, and the nursery coop today. Looks like we are in for some more moisture, so got it done today with DH's help of course. :)

Windy here :( Hope everybody stays buttoned up tight tonight! Just got a severe weather warning---up to 65 mph.....tonight! WE have not had sun....I wish! But the breeze and now wind has melted all of our snow from the storm last weekend. I forgot to tell you Cynthia, on the way home from your place it snowed 5+ inches here and the canyon was a mess right as we drove back, could not see a thing. It was bare when we left that morning and sunny! Whew! Glad that is almost over. I am excited to hear what you get from your black, so glad it is looking girlie :) Are you keeping the chipmunk/maybe olive egger? If you do let us know what happens. Science experiment haha :) Same as my blacks. It is hard to wait to find out. The best parts are A)when they are chicks and B)when they start to lay. The part in between is torture. :barnie Birdman, I know why you like them at pol....no torture lol!
