Utah!

msemanuel that is an awesome coop! i wish i had the space, skill, money to build one of those. how big is it? lisa i would up the protein and you will also get bigger eggs by doing it. i now feed 18% all flock but i was feeding the 20% layer for most of the time i have had my girls but went to all flock because its cheaper and the younger girls can eat it. but yeah i think i would up the protein all you can, cat food is good, canned tuna and stuff like that works well. and giving them more space will help too. also remember that if you give them scratch and stuff it cuts their protein intake. oh and yes i feel very lucky getting this pencil rock, she looks so sweet. and i am happy to join the club of buying birds from cynthia. and i am very thankful for cynthia and how helpful and nice she is.

I do something similar. I live close to Leland Mills and get a bag of 18% layer and another bag of 24% then mix the two together. I've been doing this all winter and the girls have done really well with it.

Jeesh Laouise, I blink and I hv 9 pages to catch up on!

Hope all is going well w/ya'll. My daughter & husband r watching a weird spooky show so I'm headed to bed. I hv to Tues to decide if I want to get in on my feedstore's order. Still trying to decide.

I had to rehome a 7 yr old lab that was born in our kitchen (I fostered his pregger mama). He blew an ACL and our property wasn't good for him. He just went to AZ to live with another lab that looks like him, plus a pool in the backyard filled with tennis balls. Still havin a hard time missing the 95 lbs of space (and big whapping tail) that he took up. The chickens were HIS pets and I'm certain he misses them. Come summer, Rosey (a RIR) will miss sleeping on his back.

Decisions.... but hope all is going well and hope all that got Cynthia's fuzzy fuzzed chicks are thrilled. They were sure cute!

Okay, so these aren't the best pics in the world--kind of hard to get them through the incubator door while they are all hopping around pecking at everything!

By the by, I'm probably going to sell these ones if anyone wants little chicks for $2 each.

These are the Austrolorp mixes--turns out there are 2 of them so far!

Awww..cute! Babies! Babies, and Babies!

Hi Elk..glad to hear that I am not the only one that doesn't like spooky shows. Especially not the gory ones!
Good to see you here.
Sorry about your lab. They are great dogs! I have the golden R. love them!

Very nice!! Are you going to paint it red and white? Now you just need 8 or 10 more of these to fit in all the new birds!!

Oh man, need to show my DH! I think he could have fun doing this. I love being able to walk into my coop. I have plenty of head room, but I want plenty of chicken room.

Well, pretty sure my Baily is broody. I thought she went to lay an egg..she has been laying late in the day, but there was no egg. I will watch tomorrow, but I think we will just go ahead and fix her a place. I will put some eggs under her. Bet she loves it. She will probably think..finally! Then, I guess I just have to hope, that she won't keep going broody on me once she's done with the chicks like Lisa's girl does. :)

That coop is great, msemanual!!

Darling chicks, Corvidae!

Red, sorry about your nightmarish weekend, that's too bad.

Sorry, I have no idea how to get in touch with the fancy poultry breeders. I'm definitely not dialed in with them.

Birdman, I'll send you a PM.

Cynthia, making that blog was so, so so easy. I bet you could do it. blogspot.com walks you through the whole process.

uh oh I bet the feed I am using is not working---it says 16% layer feed. Not enough....so I will try the all flock at the very least! Thanks for the advice, and I have tons of canned dog and cat food that my pets do not really eat so I will send that out there too. And I have been giving them scratch to keep them busy = not fighting, but that might be making it worse too. Glad you posted this, thanks again!! :)

How fun to see how she does....good luck Baily! Let me know how this goes, I really am thinking of trying it. I have about a week--ten days before mine should start up again :) I think it is just this breed, I have run into 5 other people on here now with this type and they are all acting like this too lol
