Very nice!! Are you going to paint it red and white? Now you just need 8 or 10 more of these to fit in all the new birds!!

msemanuel----NICE! That is a chicken CONDO! They are gonna lluuuuuvv you. It looks fantastic. Taking notes for our new coop :)

Corvidae--those chicks are adorable. I hope the rest of the hatch goes ok, I am rooting for you!

Birdman----I do think they were protein deprived, I really agree with you on this. I do give them meat---bologna, leftover scraps, even scrambled eggs. The egg shells is what they (the two mean ones especially) go crazy over, so I am trying to get all I can in there. I am still on layer pellets though, do you think it would help to switch to 18% all flock or 20% pellets? I thought about it, but did not want them to get fat....just have the protein they are craving. They LOVE pizza. That is the favorite treat of all times. I do not give them tons, it is expensive, but I make sure no scraps go unused of any meat cheese or eggs. They probably get 2 pounds a week, (but with 8 birds out there that is only 4 oz each for a whole week) but maybe that is not enough. Any thoughts I would love to know. I also wonder if they just need more space. I am working on that...but right now they only have 30 sq feet of coop and 90 sq feet of run for 8 birds (30 sq feetunder the coop and 60 out in the open)----I have friends though that have even less space and they are not fighting like mine. We are shooting for 60 sq ft coop minimum and 360+ for the run when we are done building, that should be lots better. (As long as I quit buying 5 chickens a month lol) I have 6 to go out there (minus whoever becomes a rooster)still and probably getting 4 more. I would like room for 20 but planning on keeping my laying flock at 12-15. Here goes the chicken math again. I am hopeless :smack

Red---Nightmare weekend is BAD! Hope everything is ok. Hang in there :love

msemanuel that is an awesome coop! i wish i had the space, skill, money to build one of those. how big is it? lisa i would up the protein and you will also get bigger eggs by doing it. i now feed 18% all flock but i was feeding the 20% layer for most of the time i have had my girls but went to all flock because its cheaper and the younger girls can eat it. but yeah i think i would up the protein all you can, cat food is good, canned tuna and stuff like that works well. and giving them more space will help too. also remember that if you give them scratch and stuff it cuts their protein intake. oh and yes i feel very lucky getting this pencil rock, she looks so sweet. and i am happy to join the club of buying birds from cynthia. and i am very thankful for cynthia and how helpful and nice she is.

Cynthia - An Andalusian? I'm jealous. I'd mob somebody for a blue Andy! How old is your BR?

And which Cal Ranch did you go to? I'm considering ordering chicks through them, but it would be the store out in Tooele, since that's where my birds are. Until then, I settle for sneaking into IFA to hear the siren song of chicks............

Red, if you are truly wanting Blue Ands I have a couple (maybe 3 I'll hv to count) that I could sell. Last year's chicks. They are pretty sweet birds (compared to what I read). If you are interested let me know and I'll check with my daughter.

corvidae - That's awesome! I hope you guys can get them to change the laws for you. I want something to be legalized here in West Valley, but I found out that it has already gone before the council twice in the last two years. So, maybe I should take some lessons from Zach?

jwoo - Thanks for the tip. I'll have to watch KSL, though I don't know if I'll be able to get an Andalusian, anyway. I guess we'll see?

Is anyone a member of the UTAH FANCY POULTRY ASSOCIATION and/or is planning to go to the show the end of March/1st of April? I'm trying to figure out a way to get information about the Rocky Mountain Chickenstock out to the members and attendees but can't find a contact email on the association website..

Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

It has a 10X8 foot print and is 7 ft. tall at the highest point going down to 4 ft at the lowest.

thats a nice size coop. its a little bigger than mine. i have the curse of being extra tall so i had to build mine tall, mine is 8 foot at the tall end and it slopes down to 6 foot at the short end. your chickens will be very happy with that coop i am sure. i wish i had your building skill. your coop is beautiful and i cant wait to see pictures of it when its done
