Shinx, just went to your cam. How cute is that..your darker blue just went over to the feed dish, and went to sleep with it's little head on it. It's cute how they crash any ol where. Pretty colors you have in there!

Sphinx, thanks for putting up the webcam! I can't stop giggling while watching these babies. One of the lavenders came up to the glass and was looking right into the camera like, "Helloooooo in TV land!"

Lisa - I know! It's fun when I get to meet anyone from here, but doubly so that I am also getting some babies from you.............in case I haven't said that enough yet

I haven't read all the posts yet..just going ahead and answering what I do. I set them!!! I find, and you may not believe this, that most of the ones with poo..do just fine! Every time..not sure why? Oh, and no, don't wash that poo off! :)
Like Shinx said, you can scrape gently some of it off.
No need to get it all, just the big, really hard, big brown, round or long, did I say hard..stuff!

Babies!!! yay!!! and very sweet ones. You picked good. #1 can be a bit mischevious though, it keeps jumping on #6 and 7 the light ones, it is so funny. We call this "chicken bowling". Runs at the pins then Bam they fly all different directions. I had another chick do this when she was little. Very sweet though. And getting FAT. I have been giving them 22 percent chick starter I got from Pet World. Good stuff, gets them nice and plump :) and they are so cute when they zip around, little fat bellies, fast speedy legs. #4 is so sweet, is just so content most of the time. Til #1 gets bored lol. They have had lots of electrolytes, eating really well, hope they stay nice and healthy for you! And girlish!

So yoohoo phoenix are you really interested in those splash looking ones or are you just jiving? :) I had a guy come look at them and I told him those might be spoken for. You have so many chickens lol what's a few more? You still have 30 ish or have you trimmed the flock down some? And last question.... have you eaten Strawberry yet? If not I hope she is still behaving herself. Little raunch. I miss her! :idunno

Thanks for all the compliments on my babies! I think they're awfully cute.

It was kind of funny- the preschool teachers seem to have gotten awfully attached- they asked if I'd bring them back Monday. I agreed to. They also told me the chicks seem to really thrive on the attention of the kids. There were kids against the glass all day, and then when they all left, the teachers went into the other room to eat. The chicks them started chirping really, really loudly, and the teachers rushed back there, certain something was terribly wrong. As soon as they saw people again, they quieted down again. LOL

Red and Lisa, hope you guys have fun at the zoo tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the weather is nice.

Ok the consensus is get the big chunks off the eggs but no washing. Good to know! Sasha, got these babies ready for setting tomorrow. 10 a.m. :) I set my phone so I do not get distracted. That happens a lot with this BYC surfing.....

I found a staple (from the chicken wire DH just put up) caught on the side of my chicken's foot. I washed it with hydrogen peroxide, and put neosporin on it, it barely poked the surface, it was more hooked around the foot than poking into it. Should I do anything else? Will a little scratch like that turn into bumblefoot? Made me worry.

Thanks for the crossed fingers. My Boy's birthday will be lots more fun if it is not pouring rain! He is 12, my baby...awwwww! My oldest is going to be 29 in June! I feel like a fossil :) I do not want my baby to grow up. Maybe that is the appeal of the chickies. A full blown mid-life crisis. "What will I do when my kids do not need me! I will feel useless!" So the chickies need me....makes me feel useful.....therapy session over and done for free on BYC! Well not really free after the run, coop, feed, chicks...diapers and dresses for crying out loud!.....but cheeper than therapy anyway ;)
