Utah!

Corvidae, I would seriously love to take your unusual legbar. I'd even send you pictures as it grows. I think it'd be a fun project.

Lisa, I don't know what I'll do for entertainment if you finally get your blue eggs. I do realize it's only a matter of time with your lav am though.

It dawned on me this morning that I will be at girl scout camp for Chickenstock, so I definitely won't be able to go.

I was kind of hoping you would take me up on my offer, too bad you have camp darn it! Hope you have fun though! I miss those days of girl scouts....mine are getting all grown up, I think this is why the chicken obsession......after raising 6 kids I feel like I need something to keep me busy, this is definitely helping. Glad you all put up with my ramblings of blue eggs and complaining about mean chickens and pictures of everything chicken :) it really has been good for me :)

i am going to see what they have up there for sure.
Sasha there is a user QualityPolish in Logan....I asked for eggs awhile back but they were using them for a breeding project, you could pm them and see you never know? There is a link to a facebook page on the profile page....

Thanks so much for the heads up! I'll give them a lookup and let you know what I hear!

so i guess ifa now sells chicken nipples so you can make your own waterer. going over to a 5 gal nipple drinker was one of the best things i did for my girls, it makes my life a lot more easy i know :)

Birdman, that's cool. We were cleaning out our shed yesterday and found a little water dish that can attach to the door of the kennel my teens sleep in - it was exactly what I was hoping we still had. No more spilled water! Yay!

Sasha---
User "gamebirdsonly" has bantam polish. They are north of us---I think in Lewiston. I went through my mailbox, I knew there was someone else......I had talked to them about polish eggs too but I wanted LF and they said they had only bantam.
I think he is actually over by Tremonton.. has quite a few different breeds..

Susan from All-bout-chickens makes a superior nipple waterer, even has brooder bottles.. she supplies IFA and will be bringing some to Chickenstock!! You could even win one!!

Lisa, I hope you don't get your blue egg for a long time...so we can keep hearing from you....J/K! I hope, I hope, it comes soon. I'm with Shinx again, waiting on that Lavender..fingers crossed. My girl sure is small compared to that black EE, or now hearing that I may have one of sonews pure black Ameruacanas..cool, whatever, she, is pretty.

Well went to the ENT, to find that I have MTD. LOL.. Muscle Tension Dysphonia. I guess I'm up for some speech therapy. Go in for a surgery, go to another dr. to find out you have another problem, because of the surgery. Happens, but sure am glad I had that done, I couldn't believe the pain! This is just uncomfortable, and at times hard to swallow, mostly, I get tired talking..aww shucks! And, I can't sing but one verse in church! I loved singing. And, I can't yell in front of the American Idol show now! For my favs!

Oh, supposedly, this therapy fixes it! A few lessons, then I think I do it on my own, not sure, I go in next month.

Had an icky thing done right there in the office for him to see down my throat...they spray this stuff in your nose, it goes down the throat so you don't feel the tube..too much..yeah right. I have the worst gag reflux. So yeah, I gagged. He said I didn't do it as bad has he's seen. But the bad part was my reaction to the stuff they used. I had tingly head, my heart started doing what I call "it's" thing..I have irregular heart beats, have had two heart ablations. If I had known there was going to be lanacane used, I probably would have skipped that..but, anyway, when he saw how I was reacting to it, he had my vitals taken again, my heart rate was down, my blood pressure was up. They couldn't figure why my heart rate would be down. I'm like..hello...no, I didn't say that, but, because of my heart skipping beats, that thing isn't going to show the right heart rate. It was just a finger monitor. The dr. came in and sat down a while, and asked if I wanted to stay a while and be watched, I could tell he was nervous, I could tell I was just going to be uncomfortable with the tingling, and I'm used to my heart acting up..so, I said no, and went off with my front teeth numb, my upper part of my mouth numb, my head tingling..I'm laughing right now..as I think of how I must have looked going outside itching my head. Crazy stuff..but that wore off in the mouth area in about and hr..and the nose stayed numb for a while longer. So, there was my fun for the day..now, I am thinking it will be more fun tonight when Red shows up.

Hi we are needing to get a coop made. My hubby is wondering what the chickens will need how much space and anything else? Is there somewhere or someone that can give me that info? We are in town so they need to be enclosed and not free roaming. We currently have 4 chicks. We might add a couple more.

Thanks for the help

It depends on who you ask. But the bare minimum I have seen of 2 sq. ft of coop space and there are alot that will say this is to small. I Can't remember what is required on the run. Have you checked out the coop page . https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops

they say 4 square feet of floor space per chicken and a foot of roost per bird but i like them to have a little more because in summer theyy need to space out to keep cool. i am a big fan of poop boards, it makes life a lot more easy for me. i have a dirt floor that works well, mice can tunnel under but there are ways to stop that. i love the plastic nest boxes they sell at cal-ranch and ifa, ifa has the best price on them. i wrote a review on here for them, its grey with a black perch and it mounts on the wall and its easy to take off and clean. my roof is black shingles and it helps heat the coop in the winter and in the summer its shaded by trees. they sell super strong chicken wire in huge rolls at lowes and home depot, its by the stucco stuff and it is so much cheaper than the little rolls, they have two sizes, one with normal wire and normal holes and one with bigger holes but much thicker wire, i got the thicker stuff and love it, its very strong, just have good wire cutters because the stuff is thick and can be a pain to cut but that is a good thing. on the roost make sure its far enough from the wall so they can face any way with out hitting the wall, make sure the poop board is big enough to catch poop any way they face. a 2x4 with the big side faceing up is best, its good on their feet and because they can fully cover their feet it helps them in the winter. be sure to have lots of vents, they need them. i also have a box fan over a vent to pull fresh air into the coop that runs on a timer, it helps them keep cool in the summer. i am not a fan of heating coops in the winter, too much can go wrong like the power going out and then you have frozen chickens, fires etc. put a top on your run so predators keep out and the chickens stay in because they fly better than you think lol. i love walk in coops, i made mine so i can stand up freely and it saves a lot of pain and then i can spend time with them all year long. i like metal trash cans to store feed, shavings etc. make sure you tarp off the top of your run for the winter or have a hard roof because if you dont it will end up being a swamp and stink like no other when the ground thaws in spring, yeah i only made that mistake once lol. well thats all i can think of now, sorry if its too long lol EDIT: 2 square feet is the minimum for each bird and is state law too. they say 10 square feef per bird in the run but that is a big debate, some say smaller, some say much bigger
