Utah!

Birdman, so so sad for you. But glad you are being as positive as you can be about it, somethings you just have to roll with it really sucks when there is just nothing you can do but hang in there.....ugh!
Speaking of not such great news----Sasha----I just candled these crele eggs. They are thinning out a lot faster than what I was hoping! The clears that I was unsure about at the last candling were all still clear... a dang lots of infertile eggs in this batch. Also way too many quit----there were several bacterial/blood rings. Would this have anything to do with the poop? I have no idea.... I have nine left that look like they should---5 of which have really wonky L-ish shaped air cells, they will stay in and we will cross our fingers like mad!!! sheesh!!! I could visibly see 5 wiggling, the four with normal air cells and 1 with an L-shaped. Anyway all 9 would hatch!?? Pray girl, pray! I am so sorry, I wish more were making it to lockdown. These are tough eggs

I have decided I HATE shipped eggs.

So unpredictable. How many left do you have for lockdown so far?
Lastly--when should we go into lockdown. Where they come a little early sometimes--- you decide what time of what day to start.
Any advice/input from Sphinx and Cynthia12 would be
a happy thing!

I go into lock down on day 18, even with bantam eggs. They usually do hatch a day earlier, but that's a good thing/surprise, right? I don't worry about the time of day I set my eggs..too much worry about the same hr. and so forth. I just make my last turn on the morning of day 18.
Hey Lisa..I'm having the same problem with my Silkie eggs. I started with about 24 in my turner also..now down to 10 or11. I have some in another bator that I am hand turning. I had 14, down to 7. The ones in the turner are due to go into lock down next Tues. The hand turned ones go into lock down just two days later. Crossing fingers they keep moving like they are now. Only 4 eggs from the guy that had showgirls in there are viable. I'm not keeping my hopes up on getting one. Oh well, I may not like the looks when they come...lol..I have someone that wants a showgirl sooo bad!
Lisa, how in the world did you get a frizzle? Remember my frizzle? Adorable baby, beautiful roo! He is with a friend up north. She says she finally got some frizzle babies from him.
Shipped eggs..some are ok, some are not so good! I have found that I don't like ordering from certain parts of the country. Pennsylvania for example,, the boxes come looking beat up, and, I got the worst one from Dick H. The pencils. He tried sending more eggs..they didn't show. That's when he finally just sent live chicks. Guess the P.O. decided they would send the noisy box!? I have had such good luck with eggs coming from Georgia, Kentucky, Tenn. Alabama.. Cal. Texas, MO. Seems the mid west is the best..besides Cal. These Silkies I just got that aren't doing well, came from Oregon..I've had good hatches from Oregon before though. NY was bad..that was the Ameaucanas from sonew. AT least I have that one beauty out there right now, that everyone helped me decide on keeping.. I really think it's a girl now.

Final answer.

I have had a hard time finding a place for it...The little ones (bantams) are picking on it and the bigger ones are soo much bigger...I brought it in yesterday and had it in a cage so she could eat...Took her out last night so she could cuddle with the other chicks. She was very unhappy at bed time being away from others. Might bring her in this morning so she can eat again. they won't let her near the feed for some reason. buggers.

Oh no..is this the splash I sent Lisa's way you guys are talking about? I can take her back...man Lisa, why do you have to live so far away...all of you!! Move your butts down here where it's a bit warmer.

I know, just a bit.

I went out this AM and the little one was hiding behind the water again...I put out my hand and it ran up my arm and hid on my shoulder. Guess I need to find a little one for a friend? It is very unhappy alone but not quite ready to live in the coop with the rest. Any Advice? or Suggestions...Not quite sure what to do...

Where's those kids? You just may have to give that mama goat some greasy pizza.

Yes it is! It is such a sweet little thing, but it is smaller than I was thinking and my girls are beating it up bad....and looking a bit sketchy on the gender.....so Cindy has it....having similar difficulty :) Hopefully it will settle in, and be a girl! I am shuffling quite a few around this week to make room for the girls I am getting this week. I still have the three little Ameraucanas----they are adorable! Love them! Hoping they are girls, they really seem girlie so far.

Now I have three new ones from you Cynthia----like I told you, three at the most ha ha :) You my friend are an enabler to my chicken addiction, sneaking an extra one in there. And what I would not give to be where it is a tad warmer! And closer to you! WE would have so much fun. And I owe you for all these beautiful babies. Where is that address? I am going to have to come hunt you down. Did Kirk come get the chicks yet?

Did I just say that????   PINE!!!  Use PINE  I'm going back to bed..glad you caught that Lisa..now I'll go reread what I posted else where!  Oh dear.

You just scared me half to death. You are so funny :lau !! Girl me and you are in the same boat. I need more sleep today too! I got up and turned the water on my garden--I thought. Forget the sprinkler was not attached, I look out 1/2 hour later---the hose is flooding part of my garden and the plants out there are all falling over. Way too much. Grrrrr if only I had attached that sprinkler.... need to go back for a nap.

Haven't heard from Kirk yet. I would imagine that he is probably doing his early morning farm chores right now. He better call. The chicks that hatched from the first batch are going to be full grown by the time he gets here!

I've been on here long enough for this morning, so will just ask when your lock down is for your bantams. Are we close with those? That would be fun..next Tues. not tomorrow..for lock down on my eggs in the turner. So baby Silkies, I'm excited. They are just so cute, and I hope they are as sweet as the one I have.
