Kimmy, I hate to say it, but I lean towards that chick being a boy- the wattles and comb are sooooo red. My girl is 3 months old and isn't that red.

Yeah, I'm so disappointed, everyone is saying he's a boy. I was really excited to have a nice breeder quality bird (all of the rest of mine are hatchery which is fine, but I wanted to see the difference) and Donna's are so beautiful. Well, I promised my husband no more adding chickens this year, so I need to be happy with our 7.

Would you add one full grown laying hen to my current flock of 7? They are all 7-12 weeks old and are all outside in their coop with a large run. There is a lady on KSL selling year old BLRW so I would know that I was getting a hen. But would it work to add a big one to all of my littles?

If you had a way to separate her so she could see everyone else for awhile...that way they could get used to each other. It makes it easier to introduce new hens that way.

Kimmy, is the lady selling the BLRW hen Rebecca? If so, she's the one I bought my hatching eggs from (set one, I should say), and she's on the up and up. My biggest concern on buying adult hens is if they're truly the age they're purported to be. I'd trust Rebecca. Of course, I'd also trust anyone else who posts in this group too. I've introduced grown hens to the flock, and it's generally gone fairly well. I would do it.
