Utah!

went into lockdown with my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten/Splash pretty blue eggs today. Had 16, 13 made it this far. One looks crazy I think it is gone but I am trying just to be sure. So 12 likely good ones in lockdown. Hoping for a decent hatch the last couple have been better, think I am figuring this out....sort of. I tried candling them all and making sure they are with the side up that the air sac tilts on this time instead of guessing...so more air sac upward than downward. They all kind of roll that direction on their own. Is this a good idea or am I doing it wrong?

aunti. congrats on your daughter also graduating!
Here are some pictures of Austin and us. The one in the wheel chair is his big brother Richard. Glad he came, had to use his camera, because I used mine up on recording!!

Such a good kid!

And such good parents! You did it---he is all grown up---and a good kid because he was taught right. Cynthia those pictures are adorable. You have such a sweet family :) I deem you to be my adopted sister then I can be in your family too.

Silkies are not to be eaten, these are show quality chickens. The other hens are good layers so don't eat them either.

I'll take $100 for the whole lot because I need them gone.

aww, where's the like button? :))

Thanks Lisa. I'm just hatching these eggs because my sister wanted one. I hope they all hatch. I got these eggs from a breeding in California. She is a BYC member. She is the one I got my little Polish from. These eggs should be WCB Polish,Cuckoo and WC Chocolate.
If they all hatch there should be extras so I should have one for you if you would like. I love the Polish breed. Mine is the sweetest. I will be taking these with the Silkies i hatched for her to Idaho on Sunday I hope. I live in Washington Utah so I think you are somewhere along my way. It sounds like you will have chicks so you could just add a little Polish chick to them. Have I talked you into it yet?

and two because they can be so mean! I like how you handled yours. Way to protect your girlies!
Where in Idaho are you heading??

Cynthia wonderful pictures. It is such a great time in life. Our daughter didn't get any leis. We didn't know they were such a big thing at graduations. There were some kids that had like 6 or 7 on them. Oops major parent fail!

thebirdguy- I'm heading to your town Idaho Falls. Thats where I grew up. My mother still lives there and other family members. My sister is there and she is the one I am bringing the chicks too. She has her coop ready and is excited to start raising chickens.

Whittni love your chickens. Where did you get your silkies from?

auntie..I didn't know about the leis either! Had a neighbor come by with a candy lei, got on the internet real quick, and looked up graduation necklaces! HA HA. Saw the money leis, thought, we can do that..went and bought a couple of fake flower leis, and tried to hurry, to add some money on it. I only made one fancy one for the bottom. The according style. He got a kick out it. I told him he would see some with them done like that all around, and different ways. There were quite a few done like what I did. Whew..glad I had a neighbor on the ball!
Parent fail? NOT. She graduated! Yeaah for mom and dads that get their kids there.

Ahhh don't worry about the lei thing. There were plenty of kids at my graduation that didn't have them, including me. It's nice when you don't have to worry about all that weight on your neck and what just fell on the sidewalk :) Cynthia, I do like what you did for your son, though. Fun!

So I've noticed something kind of funny, in a not-so-funny way. When I have my chicks out to free range, I tend to keep the big girls and the younger big girls separated, otherwise there's some bullying going on. The two groups mostly keep to themselves, but every now and then, I have to separate them. All of the big girls will pick on the younger birds, with the exception of my Welsummer. So the funny part? One of my black Ameraucana's, who is part of the younger group, seems to have taken it upon herself to run up and pick at the Welsummer whenever they're close, sometimes even chest bumping her. The Welsummer just stares at her like, "What's your deal, squirt?"

I make sure and shoo the Amer away when I catch her doing this. My Welsummer is so well behaved, I don't want any bad habits going around. I'm going to have to keep an eye on them when it comes time to merge the two groups.
