Utah!

@Lisa: Thanks again for the welcome, and you sure are right about this fowl err foul weather we've been having.

@Sphinx, Re:
Dave, I wasn't aware that there were nice tempered geese. Every one I've ever met has been mean. Welcome to BYC though!
There are indeed some good tempered geese, but some breeds are more prone to good behavior than others, haha. American Buff's are more known to be even tempered, and quiet.

@SashaT: I do indeed have 9 Welsh Ducklings, but they're only 3 weeks old. To be specific, we have 9 Welsh Females, 2 Cayuga of unknown sex (I think one male one female, but we'll see), a Golden 300 female, a chocolate runner female (TBD but she's a few months old and quacking), and 2 of an unknown breed, that we got from the feed store a few months back (one male, one female). I could be persuaded to add another runner to the flock, we're still looking to expand a little. We were looking into getting some muscovies, but I've been unsuccessful at finding any that require less than a 2 hour drive, lol. I have never seen an anconda IRL, but just looked them up. I think the Welsh's are very nice, and they sure have a nice temperament. Our runner is very flighty, but the Welsh's seem to be a lot less fearful of everything. I added a picture, hopefully it comes out.

By the way we do have a grassy part in the back by the run but when I come in the gate they all have to come running to see me. So they aren't always on those rocks. The rocks kill me walking on them barefoot but then I'm not around my chickens barefoot to much. Haha I am thinking of replacing the rock but not sure what to put there instead. So far with that little fence I have been able to keep them out of my garden. Thats another reason I like banties.

Welcome Dave! That's great we have people on here showing us their cute goats (blujem,phoenix ...) now we all would like one and you come talking about ducks and I'm pretty sure we will all be wanting some soon.I know others have ducks and I have seen those cute little duckies and they look irresistible.

Hey Lisa how is your hatch going anymore hatch?

Cute babies, Lisa!!!

Congrats to Sasha and TRex on your babies. I have to admit I'm surprised that so few hatched as compared to lockdown. Are you calling the hatch finished yet?

My couple of eggs are technically due late afternoon Tuesday, but I figure they'll hatch Wed. I'm going to meet the teacher tomorrow to put the shelf liner in and bumping up the humidity. I know it's late, but I was out of town Sat, and the school is inaccessible on Sundays.

Hattie, I do love your coop. That is so picturesque.

I bet your welshies are gonna be gorgeous!
I'm the daughter, my runner is the one in question. If you're interested I could post some recent pictures? he/she is pretty friendly, a little flighty but I think that comes with the breed...

Hey Sphinx, Yeah, the hatch is finished. :( There were no more pips, no movement, no sound, and since the other 5 were already fluffed up, I was suspicious, so I took an egg out and into a heated, steam-filled bathroom. Tapped a few times with the end of the tweezers and heard nothing. popped a little hole in the air cell, no response. picked a couple little pieces of shell off to really see into the egg....saw a dead chick. :( So one by one, I did eggtopsies on the rest. I didn't candle before lockdown and probably should have. 3 looked like they died right before lockdown, the rest during early lockdown. I don't get it. I'm blaming the super cheap, unreliable incubator I bought. (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

Lisa, your Ameraucana babies are too cute for words!
