Lisa the boss asked when I was going to fix your outside faucet. I think she wants to come with and see the babies. A neighbor just said they wanted to get another black giant hen so I might be able to talk them into one for ya.

Update on the little fat chick that was having a hard time walking......She is walking with her bum off the ground now, walking around the brooder with little problem. We were quite worried because the first day she just laid on the bottom and didn't move much. Yesterday she moved a little better but was really struggling as she scooted around. Her feet kind of stuck out in front of her and she couldn't get them under her because her belly was so large. This morning we saw her move a little better and take a couple of steps but still struggled just a little. When we got home this afternoon after a trip to MIB3, Olive Garden, and Cold Stone, she was up and walking around with the other chicks. YAY!!!!!Why am I not able to quote this post? Frustrating. Anyway, Cindy I'm sorry about your eggs! Yes, I am really thinking something is up with those chickens. I wonder if some of them are really inbred, or maybe they are lacking something in their diet? Our 5 are perky and happy this morning, but we do have 1 that still is not walking. She lays/sits with her legs almost straight out in front of her and scoots with her bum while flapping her little wings. When she was first hatched, her abdomen was HUGE with the absorbed yolk, and is still fairly large. I'm hoping maybe she just has such a big belly she can't get her legs in the proper place.![]()
@RedIII-I'm so happy to hear your Icelandics are doing well! They were fun to have here for the short time between rides.![]()

So we had this little bantam crele wyandotte that was so chunky we named him clay after Clay Mathews, the linebacker from the Packers. My daughter (the one who prefers back yard herds over back yard chickens) said he was hers until we got another one named Aaron Rodgers. So we decided on one of the chicks from this hatch will be called Aaron. Now that we have this little tubby tubby chick we have named her Raji. hmmmmmmm I am seeing a trend here.![]()
When did you get a gift cert? I keep hearing about these. lolWhat can I say? We Cheeseheads love our Packers.AJ Hawk will be next.![]()

I am SO HAPPY this little silver baby is doing so much better. I started to tear up.
As a side note, today Howard and I are celebrating our 16th anniversay! That's why he spoiled me with a movie, Olive Garden and Cold Stone. (now I have a belly as big as Raji did when she was first hatched! Haha)
Lisa, I hope you have another good hatch! Can't wait to visit you this week and see all the new babies. I am going to incubate some duck eggs for Sierra starting he end of his week, but then maybe I'll use my gift cert. and get some more hatching eggs. Hmm, maybe I'll order Deleware eggs?![]()
When did you get a gift cert? I keep hearing about these. lol
BTW Maybe I should name one of my ducklings Tebow?![]()
Cynthia, the partridge gave me an egg today!!! It's a really good sized, creamy, light brown egg. And this is what was funny to me: She laid it in the favored box. I have six nesting boxes, and my last batch of hens always laid in one box. Always. They'd fight over that one box. None of these chickens were ever with my old chickens, and I've thoroughly cleaned the coop since then. And yet when she laid an egg, she went right back to the favorite spot. Too funny, eh?
