How about a delaware chick

................................................Now that's just not fair. I WAAAANT! I WANT I WANT I WA-- sorry. I shall control myself.

Think my broody would take a new chick? Hmmm.

I have too many eggs in the incubator due to hatch on Saturday. 10 are pipping already. If they all hatch at once how do you tell who is who? What do you do to keep the chicks identity straight? I thought it made sense to have chicks the same age for the ease of raising them together, and lockdown at the same time. Time to rethink that?

Most are EE's, a cross between very well-laying hens and an Ameraucana roo, but I'd like to keep track of the 1/2 leghorns and the Marans cross, and four (hopefully) real Ameraucanas.

MoriahQuilts, it can be very, very tough to tell them apart, especially if they look the same. If they pop out looking different, it's easier. You could break "lockdown" rules and take them out as they hatch and put leg bands on them. Or nail polish with a guide.

Red, I'll give you roosters too. I know I have at least one lavender ameraucana roo, and I'm sure I have a bunch of BLRW roosters, but I haven't figured out gender on those guys yet.

They had a whole bunch that were a month or so old. There were cool barnyard mixes of marans, lav ameraucanas, then some pure GLW, buff orpingtons, speckled sussex, polish, and a couple sex links.

Ok, I am going to guess before I get any further along reading posts...a speckled sussex!

Now I'll read on and see if I was right.

I waaaaaaaaant a speckled sussex. And she wanted to come home with me.

Ha..I guessed right. I knew you liked my girl. You will love yours too. They are one of the sweetest birds I've ever had. Hey, I wonder if she can fake out the lavender, and they can be buds, although, the lavender is a lot older.

My speckled sussex acted afraid of me for a while after the lavender left. She's getting back to herself now. Follows me around the coop run.
