Ok, I went to Sandy and looked at the chickens for sale on KSL. Dang I could not resist, I am now the proud owner of a silver Laced Wyandot, a Bard Rock, A gold laced Cochin Bantam. a black french copper Marin and a Rhode Island red that insisted on coming home with me. She kept following me around getting between my leggs triping me saying take me take me. Then she did it to hubby, He of course picker her up and said she is coming too because she likes me. They were very healthy looking had a big acre to free range in, They had too many roosters so the feathers are gone off some of their backs, If anyone needs roosters they have some nice ones. One white one that is HUGE with a big almost purple comb, Not agressive. They also had several others and I hated to break up the cochin pair but I can't have roosters, The gold laced cochin bantam Rooster was very pretty. I put them in one of the coops and shut the run door and I have to say my other chickens were gathered around saying who are these. Maude my head hen was stomping the ground around the pen and telling them she is boss. My older chicks acted like they were freezing so I turned on the light so they could get warm. Poor babies, They were so happy.

Here is a pic of the parents...Rooster is a mille fleur, and there is one red hen and one of the mille fleur. Not sure which hen.

Oh, thank you for posting those pictures! So she's obviously not a buff columbian...can't be a red, so either a Mille Fleur or....what is a Mille Fleur x red colored chick called? Also a Mille Fleur? Whatever it is, I love her!

Yay!!! SashaT so glad you have the other little Polish chicks. I miss them! I really do. I should have chocolate in this batch of eggs! There are enough of them so I will be keeping my fingers crossed that I have a good hatch.

I've candled and after 3 days this is what they are looking like.
The ones in my Brinsea Mini Advance look like they are a bit ahead of the Hova-Bator ones. I hope I'm keeping the temp right in it.

That is a really neat picture. Impressive.

So, the weather got even worse here. I was just getting ready to postpone the whole event (which would've made 11 little girls cry, as well as me, as I had three huge trays of brownies already cooked) when one of the moms swooped in and got an alternate location.

I didn't do the curtains someone else did. I asked if they keep them from sleeping in the nests. I have Mille Fleur duncles. They are soooo cute and talk to me. Glad you were able to move the event. I have a new camera. Thought tomorrow i would try it to take pictures

question? what happens if you do nothing? Would they get worse. better? just curious.

This one was a long hatcher, and came out with crooked feet, but it seemed to correct the next day. The day after I noticed they were crooked, and tried taping individually, but they seemed to bend at awkward angles. Then tried pipe cleaner, then cardboard, to 'cast' them. Did not work. She is now 1 month old, and gets around fine. I'm worried that her feet will not hold her up when she gets to full weight. The next time I had crooked feet I did a tape boot (secure the toes on the bottom with a piece of tape, then place another piece over the top) as soon as she was out of the incubator, and it corrected in two days. Hint: don't use slick tape for the bottom piece, it slides and they start to get spraddle.

Oops, sorry! It has been such a long, hectic day, and that's just the latest in a series of stupid mistakes I've made. I'm jealous of your mille fleur duncles (how are those different from mille fleur cochins?). That's about the only bantam breed that has ever tempted me, and boooooooy am I tempted.
