Hmmm.... I think I can see a new business here. Bator sitting for chicken lovers who travel. Of course I would get the pick of the litter
Bator sitter is almost what I had to have today. My son would be home until 1:00. My voice therapy was for today. I called. I cancelled. No way I was going to leave when so much was happening! When a chick hatches in this bator, the humidity will shoot up just like the others, but, this one will hold it..too much humidity for the others, so you just go in, take out the chick, and the humidity will drop again. So, I wanted to be here for them.
All of the EE's are out but two, and one is zipping.
I went ahead and helped a couple of Silkies. When they stay pipped, in the same spot for a long time, not a good thing. Some Silkies have very high vaults. Sure enough! Man, my lavender had a real high vault, and one of the blacks. I am so glad I went in to check them out. I just opened it to their beaks, let them hang out for a while, then, just went in when I could see the yolk was absorbed. Didn't take long, they were pretty much ready. Those high vaulted heads make it almost impossible for them to turn. They had just stayed right where they pipped, all day. I finally went in. They will be fine.

Very pretty colors from what I can tell. I'm hoping the black will stay the real black color, and not the washed out black. These are from one of the best known Silkie breeders on here. catdance. I'm excited to see how they look all fluffed up
Those EE's from the white eggs are a real neat color. They have a tint of lavender in them, and have some black on them here and there. The person I bought the eggs from said they would have a tint and some spots. Lisa, there is a big Bubba Already! Always is one. Very puffy around the head and face. It was the first to hatch last night. I will post pictures later. I want my Silkies dry. I only got one NH out of the two. Wonder what his look like, will have to go see.
