Utah!

Pretty sure that was a rainbow. It was that, or a well-disguised cutthroat. Wish I hadn't let it go...............*cough* Birdman, this was up at Strawberry Reservoir. It was pretty windy and cold, but well worth it to go catch some fish. I think this is the biggest one I've ever caught on my own.

Hey Birdguy, how often do you hatch out eggs from your Icelandics?
:drool that is a beautiful fish! and from the picture i think its actually a cutt, it can be hard to tell but all signs point to cutt for me. you only make that mistake once lol. i am a selective release person, i keep some and eat them and release some. sometime i should teach you how i clean and skin a trout, i can do it all in 30 seconds or less :) i am a little crazy about fishing but have not been as much in the last couple of years because nearly dieing doing it makes a person take it easy for a bit lol

My daughter only made it to 40 miles this year. She knows why too. She hadn't trained nearly like she did last year. But she was happy, man, I know I couldn't do it now.
My grandson on the other hand, made it! All 100 miles! Like I said, oh to be young again! Or, at least feel young. Not only in the mind, but the body!

I know about that not training bit. Is She planning on riding next year? My monster is planning on riding already. Congrats to your grandson.

So, this is Joe, my BSL...

She started laying during this past month (hatched out late last fall/early winter)

And these are some of the eggs she's laid this past week...

Can they go from 'pullet egg's to larger eggs that fast??  The big one on the left is bigger than the BO's eggs, she laid it yesterday... maybe a double yolker?? The one on the right is tiny... Don't remember the eggs changing so fast when I had chickens before...  she's been a great layer so far, lays almost everyday since she started laying...
that is what my bsl's did, with one she had her first 3x yolker at 4 eggs in. 3 out of 4 of mine lay huge eggs, so big they do not fit in the carton. they went from pullet egg to jumbo in just a few days. make sure you are careful how much protein they get because that will make bigger eggs and will wear them out faster. i love my bsl's, they are all so different. i have one that is my attack chicken, i just point at another person, dog or chicken and she runs up to attack them. i have one that demands i cuddle her each night when she is on the roost. i have one named mrs b because she is so grumpy all the time and well her name is mrs b for short if you know what i mean, she is also the one that lays the smaller egg. they all are just perfect :)

Birdman, I need to see this attack chicken some time. The best I've been able to do with mine so far is that one or two will actually come over to me when I call them by name - sometimes. Depends on how they feel.

Yeah my boyfriend actually showed me a pretty quick way to clean fish. I was surprised. It worked great, until my hands started getting so cold from fish in the ice chest that they hurt, so I had to warm them up. And call me weird, but I like to see what the fish were eating before I got them.

oh she is great to have around for sure and i did not teach her this, she just does it lol. :)

My guess is she will. And I am pretty sure my grandson will too. Thank you for the congrats. :)) I have a son that did it last year, has the nice bike and all, hmmm, didn't hear from him, and he lives in Ogden area. I wonder what happened to that? Will have to ask. :p

So, Brad, tell us about this almost dying. And wouldn't that make you want to fish MORE, so that you were enjoying life more?

Nearly all my chickens come when called. My MIL was laughing when she realized that when she was over today. She and FIL came over so he could help dh hang the window and door for the coop. Evidently dh thought his dad would be more helpful. Weird.

Sphinx, pretty cool your chickens come when called, sounds like I need to spend more time in the coop=) LOL about the FIL.... Can't wait to see pics of the coop, thinking about adding a little addition to mine for the teenagers and such...

Birdman... an attack chicken?? reminds me of a leghorn hen I had when I was younger... she was pretty crazy, and she loved to eat mice, she would wait by the strawbales when I turned them over to see if there were any mice underneath, she especially liked the babies... yuck!! Good protein, though, I guess... speaking of protein, I just feed them the regular layer mash, I think that's like 16%?? Plus they free-range, so hopefully that's not too much with the scratch thrown in and kitchen scraps at the end of the day=)

All you bike riders... someday.... my kiddos need to be a little bigger so I have a little bit more spare time (maybe??)

Red-- Reminds me we need to take our kiddos fishing, they just put in a kids fishing pond by the river that they keep well-stocked, so it's time (as soon as it's a little warmer=)

Going to put her up on ksl soon if no one is interested. She is pure, she is heritage.
I looked at that site, they have nice tight combs, even the roo. You have good taste.

(Not that I know anything about it yet.) Did you have other takers, if not, how soon do you need to rehome? My oldest babies are 6 weeks.

its a long story but i used to fish at fish lake a lot and one day the fishing was on fire and a bad storm hit and i did not want to get off the lake and we end up being washed onto shore and had no water or food and had not had anything to drink or eat all day and i was in flip flops and had to walk 7 miles barefoot on horrible terrain and was attacked by animals and ended up with search and rescue called. that is the basic story of it oh and less than a week later my grandma died. yeah not a fun week.
