Utah!

Oh, good luck on the bike ride today, guys!! I need to get out on my bike more. DH and I bought fancy road bikes (mine 4 months ago, his 7 months ago) and we don't ride nearly enough. We did go on a nice hike today (up Adams Canyon).

Nice bikes, Trex! And congrats on graduating from the egg!

I love that Polish chick, Sasha!

Oh, Cynthia, such pretty babies!! It's too bad I'm done buying chicks for the year. I love your fish tank, too. My eldest just got hers cleaned out, and we got about 10-12 goldfish for free, as well as a little dwarf frog. She's really excited about it.

Slvrphnix, I LOVE that tandem seat. Are they very expensive? How tough to take off and on? That would be so great for dh and I each to get one, and have that replace our bike trailer. Our younger kids are 5 and 7, and are starting to really hate being in the trailer, but they're too slow to keep up with the rest of us.

Hattie, I'm cracking up over the watermelon silkie.

Construction goes well on our new coop. I went to Habitat For Humanity's "Restore". I bought a hollow interior door, knob, hinges, and a nice 20"x 4' window for the coop, and it cost me $8 total. Amazing! Here's a pic of how the coop looked about 20 minutes ago. It'll be 8x8 inside.

Its not bad taking off. Have to remind the kiddo to stay in the middle once in while I actually for got I was pulling her acouple of time. Price with the seat back think was about 225 but if you keep an eye on ksl you can get them alot cheaper. I got ours after taxes so I figured what the heck. Here is the sight for them the prices are higher then what I paid brand new. http://www.trail-a-bike.com/products/trail-a-bikes/original-folder-one/
Nice coop

Sheesh you guys are busy today.
Cynthia----I love ALL the chicks, I want one of every color, every breed :p The silkies are especially beautiful, love the blue one!! Seriously, I WISH I could have one of each anyway. Pretty babies! Still having visions of giant blue eggs, daily......

Sphinx, Whoaaa! The coop will be awesome! You can have tons of chickens now. Tons I say, you are all set :D :D

Phoenix, Way to go on that bike ride! You guys are awesome for doing that. Looks like you made a really fun memory with the cute little 'monster'.

Hattie, love the watermelon pic!

Sasha, Your girl does look like she is turning Cuckoo!! Those are really cute, will be fun to see her all grown up. Am I seeing any frizzling on your boy-ish one? I thought it looked a little like that, but is might be the angle.

Daloorashens, darn that weather! Watch out tonight, same thing. I hate losing crops after they are up and doing so well.....Argh!

We had our camper and boat parked out at the lake, and the wind came in and it got so cold we packed up and came home. Lots of work, just a little bit of play :( Came home to four eggs in the same nest, still no egg from my Buff Orp. She has not laid for weeks. Do not know what her deal is. She does not seem sick, just happy and perky, running around, not broody, does not seem to be molting, Only 1 yr old in April, is this normal to take such a long break? I think over 3 weeks....closer to 4 maybe.

I had a BCM hen like this. I got her as an adult. I was told she was around a 12-18 months old when I got her. Don't know if that was true or not. After the month of no laying from the trauma of moving, she laid for a month or two, then stopped for the winter (from like Oct-Apr), then laid 2 eggs a week for a month or two, and then went broody for two months. Stopped being broody, and was involved in the carnage a month or two later with no eggs out of her. So, for those keeping track, I owned her from September til about November (14 months) and got about 12 eggs total out of her.

Incidentally, Cynthia, that partridge you gave me had no such trauma of moving. She's stuck to her regular egg laying routine- I get an egg every other day or so out of her.

My first batch of chicks was hatched the first week of January, and I have two pullets from that (the GLW and Godzilla, who was supposed to be a GLW, but sure looks like a RIR). A friend hatched a batch of chicks the week after from the same seller, and hers are laying. Mine aren't!!! So jealous. But, their combs are getting redder by the day. Not squatting yet, but I think they're getting close.

Hattie - She looks like just participated in a murder! I love to watch my hens eat tomatoes. The bite and shake and it goes everywhere!

Cynthia - Your blue is pretty. I can't wait to see how mine turn out. Where did she come from? (I might be interested before you KSL her.)

Silver - What a great daddy/daughter memory she will have!

Sphinx - great progress on the coop!

I threw some cantaloupe and watermelon rinds into the run with my big girls yesterday. They weren't quite sure what to do with them, but today I checked and those rinds have mostly been stripped clean. Good girls.

Sphinx, a dwarf frog?

I love those.

Rex, Sasha, cute on the little cuckoo!!

Phoenix, looks like you guys had fun on that ride. Good job!

I may have missed some of what I was going to comment on, but I need to get to bed. Wiped out after a morning of fishing (on two hours of sleep - lousy wind) For some reason, I keep trying to create new, ridiculous spelling for the words I'm typing, so I really need to get off now.

Hey Cynthia, I broke in my pole! Three and a half years, and I finally got the maiden catch. 18" rainbow, yeah baby!

Sundance, my girls were covered in red paint when i painted the run.....this was about 3 maybe 4 weekends ago. The paint has all come off by itself, my polish had it all over her crest and it is gone so with the natural oils in the feathers you might not need to anything, unless your fair is really soon.
Fonzie still has red on his feathers....
