Birdguy, I LOVE your chicken math. Let me try: 25 bodies minus 6 pullets not yet laying, minus 7 teenagers minus 8 tweens minus 3 babies= 2 chickens. Yay!!!

Sasha, Please, please please take the lavender ameraucana. He's such a sweetheart for the most part. For giggles I put the three two week old chicks in the pen, and he was kind of fighting with the one (oh crap, that means it's going to be a boy, doesn't it?

), so I decided to put him in with the big girls to teach him a lesson. I could tell things weren't going well, so 1-2 minutes later, I went into the big girls' pen. He literally jumped into my arms. Had dh cracking up at how anxious he was to get into my arms and away from the mean girls.


Welcome, wgidir! I think my one set of chicks is in the 6-7 week range, and I haven't given them light at all in a couple weeks. The tractor they're sleeping in has a fairly small box, and they all kind of huddle together and seem to do just fine.

Just gonna throw it out there.. I think Mom should snatch him up too. Rocco is crazy, and not doing is duties...He seems to be an easily replaced Roo to me. That and he always chases me!

Lisa, my plan is to do the OE/EE thing. The two roos I'm keeping are a FBCM and a Cream Legbar. For hens, I'll have: FBCM, legbar, OE, lavender ameraucana, BLRW, GLW, and RIR. So, there will be some fun combinations in there.


Sasha, I forgot to mention that my experience with roosters is limited, but my rooster did always point out treats to the girls and didn't really eat any until they were all treated out.

They found my truck. The kid that stole it tried to use it to steal a pop machine in Delta and crashed it. Don't know if it's even drivable at this point. The cops said it smells like it's burning oil and the driver's side is banged up. The kid tried to claim that he knew my boyfriend and that he gave him the keys. He's going to jail.

Oh you guys, I'm glad they found it and busted the kid, but I don't know whether to cry or what

My boyfriend just went through a really horrible divorce and is still trying to get things settled, and he was the one who's paying for the truck. Long story short, he bought it for me and we've been sharing it. Now we have a truck that we probably can't drive and still have to pay on, plus pay more to have it fixed if it's even worth it. I'm so upset right now

Red I am glad that kid got caught.....but so sad the truck is a mess! Are your tools in tact? I sure hope so. Does your insurance cover theft damage? Be sure to check into that..... It is such a bummer, I feel so bad for you. Hugs You can try to recover damages from this dumb kid, garnish his wages etc......but I know you don't usually get it all back in these situations. I would definitely press charges though and pursue whatever you can. He should pay for the mess he made.

or chicks!!! Yay!!! We need more people around here with good quality breeder eggs and chicks. Shipped eggs are driving me crazy! I think Blujems is getting setup with the same breeds too, that would be awesome!!! The chocolate, olive and blue eggs are the fun ones

Bluejems, this is reminding me, to keep you posted here.....the FBCMarans babies I have are looking more and more positively one boy for you and one girl for me ! And I think I will have a Wheaten girl for you too, just need to grow them out a little more to be sure

Ok... more opinions now... so if Bluejems is doing something like that, should I do something different?? I'm really liking those Swedish Flower Hens... they just lay regular cream eggs, but they are really pretty chickens.... I love the Blue Marans roo from birdguy.. nice looking bird, and I love the idea of having the birds with different color eggs... maybe I'll just have to squuze a third coop in.....

You have to breed the ones you like the most for sure! But for me , the more people with the choc/olive/blue eggs the better hehehehe......
or polish Speaking of which, ducklover, if you sell Rocco I hope you guys keep one Polish roo, I am hoping for cute chicks or eggs from you guys next year too lol! I really need to break down and get my own rooster. I am so worried my neighbors will hate me..... Rocco really chases you? That is pretty funny

will your insurance help you out at all? are you covered from theft? what about the tools? i do not see how its your responsibility for paying for the truck.... i hope you nail the punk with everything you can and make him pay for it all and then some. those trucks are not cheep and tools cost a lot too! how old is the punk? if he is under 18 and his parents own a house you can put a lean on it or if he is over 18 and has a house you can do the same. let me know what i can do to help, i am a big fan of junk yards and i can help you get parts i feel so bad for you
