Sasha and DuckLover, CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby!!!!!! I think I'm going to hatch ducks next year. They'd be awesome because they're so cute, and I'm so not tempted to actually KEEP ducks- I'd want a pond, and I just can't do that.

I'm cracking up over the finders keepers comment on the calf. ROFL I texted that picture to my mom, and she automatically assumed that I'd bought a cow. I have to admit if I was going to buy a meat cow, I'd get an angus.

Guy, those roosters are awfully cute. If nobody here takes them, you could try KSL. They're small enough that the chicken eaters would naturally be somewhat deterred.

Guy - Those are some pretty roosters. I hope you are able to find good homes for them. It is always good to post pictures, it makes the temptation much harder to resist

Awwwwww I was so close! Mine sat in the nest this morning, I was sure it was happening, then NO! &*@#$!!!! BUT I am so so excited for you. You win. I will drop your rooster off on your porch for ya

We now have 2 hatched babies! 2 more are super close, another is working on it. The baby whose blood supply i nicked this morning is still alive and active, seems to be trying to get out, but I can see it shouldn't be yet! Still has blood and yolk to absorb, it's making me nervous.
The upsidedown baby is one of the super close to hatching eggs. We helped her just a bit more 15 minutes ago. She's a determined little thing.
just 1 egg left that hasn't pipped. If it hasn't pipped by dark, we'll candle it and see what's up.

thought I would share a few pics....
First the monster and the Wheaton that Lisa dropped off last night.



And here is one of the Big Boy that was born today...Horrible day...He got stuck and we ended up with an emergency C-section, and it still took 4 of us to get him out. Mama is still having a hard time waking up but the little (big) guy is doing great.

Cindy-I'm so envious of your pretty wheaten teen! The "monster" is pretty dang cute herself. Congrats on the baby billy, I hope momma comes around soon.

Awwwww baby goat!!!!! I am so happy it made it and I sure hope mama is ok this time! yay! Love the pic of monster.....have to tell everybody here, that chick was asleep on her shoulder with its head hanging down sooooo cute, but woke up for pictures lol

Sasha, good luck on the remaining babies! Sounds like you need tons of patience for hatching these. Not my better quality....I better stick with chicks. Holy cow they make me nervous enough as it is. I have so far stuck with my promise to stop hatching....although the Polish Hattie has been hatching are tempting me greatly! I am gonna be saaaaaddd if I let this frizzle baby come to your place.....still pretty nervous, it looks awfully pink. Do yours still have no wattles showing? And can you see the for sure color yet?

blu, I've decided on what I won. For the first pullet to lay...I'll take that baby goat. Oh, and I'll still take the cupcake.

Those ducks are cute! I hatched some about a year and a half ago. They do take longer.

Oh and blu, that wheaton amerauacan looks just like mine! Lisa has some little chickens around the state, that will be laying around the same time.


We are having smoke again, not sure you heard the news, but there are 3 more fires. We are really getting the smoke now, worse than before, and the ash is falling like snow flakes. Went to the store, didn't know it was that bad, even though I could smell it just walking past our upstairs bathroom that we keep a window open in. An eerie look going on too..all yellow around us, even in the house. Coughing now, shouldn't have gone out. Crazy all of these fires, then I go into the store and the first thing I see are fireworks. I'm a bit worried about how many fires we will get from the 4th.
