Blujems, I also may rehome a couple.....I have 5 wheaten/blue wheatens......3 BWA from azriel and 2 WA from pawtraitart, I may give up one of each, but I want to see the eggs first lol You get first dibs if I do

I had a dream about Sasha's family last night, it was hysterical. They were selling us a house, it was not the house they have now, it was a weird house, leaning really bad to the side, and Sasha kept telling me it was straight up and down. It was so funny, I thought I was seeing things. then I went inside and everything was upside down. My husband says "no its not" Sasha says "no its not" so I am sure that I am losing my mind. Then I went outside, and it was my yard, my chickens were out there. Sasha says "no their not" then I went back inside, and it was my house. Sasha says "no its not" haha this went on for what seemed like hours in my dream. Everything just kept changing. When I woke up I was pretty happy it as over, so that I know I am not crazy. At least for the most part.....

Lisa!!! SAve the others for me, especially the WA's, I will need some diversity, and oh my goodness that dream is hilarious!!

If BluJems doesn't want my BWA/takes Lisa's instead, she'll be all yours, Daloorashens. She'll be a year old in early spring so in her prime. Perfect!
Lisa, that was a CRAZY dream! I hope you didn't wake up thinking I'm some kind of scam artist.

I will be going to Orem next week and can get some from Mariahs quilts for you. I am shipping a couple of cats to Japan and China so need to get health certificates at my friend who is a vet in Orem. I think one of my sizzles has a broken wing so I;m going to have her wrap it,

I'm the one looking for chicks from Moriahsquilts.. where do you live sundance?? I can't keep track of where everybody is until I have met and/or gotten chickens from you=)

Blue... WOW!! beautiful BWA roo, I hope mine look that good when they're big, I just love looking at them now, they're already so pretty, and it still amazes me how much they have changed from chicks, when they looked so much alike!

Hi everybody....it's been a few months since I was on this group. Let's just say it personally hasn't been the best two months and leave it at that. I know it's been a while since the last messages I read were in the 500's...so I am way behind. But wanted to post some of the eggs we have been getting from our Americana and the sex links. They are up to about four eggs a day. Only one of the Americana's is laying and we have one sex-linked who hasn't joined in yet but we will see what happens in the next week. Blue egg is Speckles, light tan is Bertie, Blondie and Lilith laid the darker eggs. We have had couple of membrane eggs too so not sure if that is someone's first attempt. If so, how long does that go on? We are feeding layer food and have oyster shell mixed in so I'm assuming that it isn't a calcium deficiency.

I have enjoyed and envied some of the pictures...nice, eclectic group of chickens here. Wish we could have more than six but that chicken math does that to you if you don't watch out!! Have a great day, chickenmom

Good to hear from you! Hope the DH's back (I think that was it?) is doing better and you guys are ok! Thanks for the egg pics, I was hoping you would update us on how things were going. That EE egg is a nice, big one! Be sure to stay in touch, you guys were so cute when you were first setting up and your enthusiasm was so fun, easy to remember you two. You found out what chicken ears were on Birdie lol that was fun

Lisa, they are both legbars. Apparently Greenfire farms has a bird or two with a recessive white gene. It wasn't really known when Corvidae was hatching eggs, and this little guy hatched out, and she was really perplexed. She gave him to me because she wanted traditional legbars, and not one that's showing this recessive white gene. There's another BYC member out of state who is trying to gather all the white kids up, and is wanting to do a pet project with them. I have to admit if she were local, I'd try to trade for a traditional legbar roo, I think they're very pretty. But so far, this guy has been a sweetie. I was at the feed store today, and they had some darling, darling turkey chicks. Maybe 2 weeks old. Soooooo cute. I was very tempted. It helped that I brought 5 kids into the store, four of them 7 or younger.

Bluejms, your flock is absolutely stunning. Absolutely gorgeous, every single one.

Hattie, congrats on your fertile eggs!!! I can't wait to see how they turn out.

I didn't notice the earthquake at all, but it's been such an insane day that it would have to be a pretty powerful quake for me to notice. Plus, I lived in Japan for a while, and the earthquakes were so frequent there that it got to the point where I didn't even really notice them. It was kind of funny.

Gamebirds, I love your chickens too. So beautiful.

That is so interesting, now it makes sense! I wonder what your chicks will be, if they will get that white gene....that one just looks totally different, the head and everything, I remember now when we picked it up, it was a more yellow chick, it was still so small....I do remember her saying something about it being different now, it is coming back slowly (squeak, whirr, grind) haha.......what fun you will have when those babies hatch to see what happens!

Thanks, it's nice to know we have been missed. Yes, lots of stuff happened right around the time DH had his back surgery. He is doing a lot better but is basically house bound until his surgeon gives the ok to drive....not being able to drive himself has been probably the hardest to get used to....that and not being able to lift over 5 lbs. So Utahchick and I have been helping with the girls. But if this surgery has cured the bad back, this will all be worth it. We hear stories of good and bad outcomes for this same surgery. We hope to be one of the good outcomes.

As the girls have gotten closer to when we thought they should be laying, we started noticing a "pet me" squat...all of a sudden some of them decided we were ok to be around and started squatting in front of us so we could pet them. The first time, I nearly stepped on Blondie because the practically threw herself in front of me! After the petting they would fluff up and preen themselves. However Pearl deemed this behavior unbecoming of a lady and pecked me twice when I attempted to pet her a couple of weeks ago....I have bruises to prove it. Dang! That hurts! But this week she finally gave in to whatever instinct this is and let me pet her. Is this normal behavior for pullets?

I'm hoping things have evened out and the rest of the year will be BORINGLY NORMAL!! Ciao bellas!
