Utah!

Blue, you put it perfectly. That coop is awesome!

Cynthia, congrats for your son! That's cool that he gets to go to Jowja

Kimmy, for some reason I was thinking you were in central Utah. Oops.

Well that was fun - I went to Cal Ranch to pick up a turkey, and who do I find there? None other than birdman! Good to see you again, Brad. It was fun to talk chickens and animals for a minute. I got another turkey poult, and I think it's either a Bourbon Red or some kind of white. I'm hoping for a red.

Okay all you hatching buffs. I had a dream last night that I got some fertile eggs shipped to me, and only two of them didn't have huge cracks in them. All the rest were broken and weepy. And then, of the two left, one was a pathetically misshapen white one, and the other was a torpedo-shaped egg that looked the best. The torpedo one was so thinly shelled that it broke when I was trying to pick it up

You guys are influencing me or something.

I think you've had such a horrible year, it's your fears telling you what might happen if you were to get shipped eggs. :( I do hope your new turkey is exactly what you want it to be!

Oh no you didn't! I've been oogling those Mille Fleur d'uccles (pronounced Dew-Clay for those who don't know

) since I first started researching chickens! You simply can't hatch any....I'm too weak to resist and you're too close! They are GORGEOUS birds.
Hattie, what are you hatching now? I don't remember. Old age is setting in fast!

Lisa! You are going to tempt us all! I tell you I should have never started hatching eggs. It is so addicting. I really need help. I am hatching eggs from birdguy along with my broody hens. I was going to take the Icelandics and one Maran out of the incubator and put them under my Silkies but today I went out and one of my Silkies left her eggs to go in where the other Silkie was sitting on her eggs to take over!
barnie.gif
So I put her back in her spot on her eggs. I will candle the eggs tonight and see if they are doing ok. The ones under my Silkies are from birdguys pen that had Fonzie Lisa's beautiful Ameraucana roo in there. I think there were Orpingtons too not sure what else. My eggs should be hatching in 12 days. On the 30th. By the way even though I complain about my broodies they are even more fun than an incubator hatching. ( just as stressfulI too) I just don't wants so many brooding at one time for heavens sake!

Lisa I will take two if you hatch some chicks

it was so much fun to see you too! i picked a good time and day to go to cal-ranch for sure. that little turkey is sure cute. i gotta tell you i nearly caved and got those two ducklings but i was able to control myself---barely

Lisa, are you asking about my showgirls I have in lock down? I have 4 left..what is up with those? Please tell me that the polish are easier to hatch..seems like when I hatched some a while back, they all hatched on their own, and I got a good hatch.
Now, I have to make a decision tomorrow if none of my showgirls pip by early afternoon...I will not wait this time. I pipped them the night before hatch day last time, and they had all passed, but not by long, because they were just starting to pip the first membrane, then drowned, sooo wet. I am keeping the humidity way down this time. Cross your fingers. I just set my Polish on Monday night..so they will be a while. Have some pretty blue eggs that will be hatching 28th. Have some olive eggers coming.

Only these, will be true olive egg color, not like the ones that I won and thought were olive eggers.

Ok, found out that Austin will be in Peach City area for a while. So, not in the big city. And, part of his mission goes into AL. It will be interesting to see where they move him around. I wouldn't care if he never made it to the big city. :)
Hmm, wondering if I should pre warn him about those big bugs! I lived in Florida, right close there...I used to tell him about those roaches. Turn on a light after you've been gone for a while, and watch the room move if the house and around the outside of the house hadn't been sprayed in a while.
He's seen some pretty cool looking bugs while we were in Mexico. :) Something on his list to take....mosquito repellent. Yep.

Birdman, those ducklings sure were cute! I couldn't stare at that little blue one for too long. I was afraid I'd want it.

Guess what? My mom's BSL did the egg squat! Although I'm wondering if it was a little premature or something, as I was making a grab for her to put her away and only snagged her tail. It startled me. I set her on the ground and tried to scratch her back for her, and all she did was wriggled and try to get away. Bah.

yeah red they sure were cute! so do any of you know much about the history of silkies? they are asian and their bones are used in medicine over there. i guess at one point they bred them to be extra broody because over there there is a popular dish that is very expensive that is eggs that are close to hatching taken and cooked up, so silkies are very useful because they are broody so much. its sad but it may help explain them a bit more to some of you
