Hi everyone! I wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I've been puttering around BYC for a couple of weeks now and finally joined the forum. I'm Andrea and I live with my husband and almost two-year-old son in West Jordan. We don't have chickens, yet but are starting to plot our coop and as soon as it's done we'll get our chickens! It's good that we aren't ready, yet because I'm still researching and deciding on breeds. I have a friend who has chickens, I'm not sure if she's on BYC, but she mentioned looking for a fairly weather hardy breed. Are there any specific breeds you recommend for or against?
Hey your close to me welcome. I will have a small coop for sale in a few weeks. I am in the process of building a new coop for myself. Do you want pets egg layers or both? Almost everyone likes silkies for their gentle loving nature. The eggs aren't huge but we just eat two. I bought one of everything until I decided what I like. I like odd looking chickens so Of course the Turkins are great. They are winter hardy even with the bare skin. They also lay longer than most . The Wyandotts are very pretty with the lacing the Rocks lay well You will enjoy your journey I am sure
