Utah!

Mimi, I'm glad your rooster was found. I hope you can figure out what's scaring them.

Sundance, loved seeing your pictures. I love that town with all the wild donkeys. How cool is that? Your chicks are so adorable. I love the white and the blues. Oh no!!!! I was wondering about your poor doggie. I'm so sorry he rebroke it. Poor baby!! He is such a sweet little guy.

Aravis, congrats on your new chicks!

Red, glad your less inclined to rooster me now. They are some of the most beautiful chicks I've ever seen.

What makes those gorgeous chicks even tougher is that I lost Potsie today. Not sure what happened, but found her dead out in their little time out pen. It does look like maybe there was a scuffle between her and the other chick. What really bites is now I'm stuck with a lone rooster. ugh. He's too small to go with the others, and I doubt anyone on KSL would want a 3-4 week old velociraptor.

AND, I'll be in West Valley/Taylorsville tomorrow evening, showing houses. So, I'll be CLOSE to Sundance. Lisa, I can be chicken train for your chick from Cynthia if you'd like.

Wow, Sundance, those are some might cute chickies=) Loving the pics!!
Aravis, are you getting all your chicks from Cynthia?? And what kind of chickens did you decide to get??
Cynthia, who did you get your SFH eggs from??

Soooo.... Got the main part of the coop done at my mom's place!!! So now the 3 FBCM pullets are with their new beau, the blue copper when they are a bit bigger... He was all excited to have some new girls, even though they're still to young to be happy for his attention. The coop is much bigger than the one they were in, so they were all happy clucking around and throwing the new straw around, it was fun to watch them. So the next part is the 2nd coop, which will be just a tad smaller than the main coop, right next to it, they will share the middle wall. I tried to take a few pics today, so I should be able to post them soon... Then my place will be much more comfortable and have more space, Yay!!!

Lisa, what chick are you getting from Cynthia??

Dalooras, that's awesome! Looking forward to seeing pictures sometime.

Sphinx, I'm so sorry to hear about Potsie

You've had too many losses this year. It's always hard to lose them. I would take your raptor for you, if I had space. I've got a few birds here that I can almost guarantee would straighten him out - at least, so long as he's in with them.

Sundance, sorry to hear about your poor doggie!

Thanks guys! I will probably continue with Purina as our hens seem to be happy with it. It's always nice to see what else is available.

This is kind of late but have not been watching the post lately. I feed my hens a mixed grain i buy from a lady in Eagle Mountain. They waist a little more then the pellets but you cant beat the price. 200-250 hundred pounds feed my flock of 14 large hens and 6 bantam. i also feed them old whole red wheat that i find on KSL for free. i ended up with 700 pounds this summer. Here is the link http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=22253483&cat=113&lpid=1&search=feed . oh ya, there is a down side due to it being all grain. i also feed 22 wild doves and im guessing about 50 small wild birds and 6 wild quail.

Interesting, mad chicken, I didn't know people gave their wheat away?? That would be great scratch, especially during the winter!!

So Cynthia, I should probably just PM you , but thought I would throw this out there...

If, by chance, you happen to have some of those SFH's come early spring (as early as February/March) and decide to re-home them, PLEASE put me at the top of your possible options for rehoming.... It is KILLING me that you hatched those chicks out, but I can't fire up the brooder and do all that all over again right now, I have WAY to many projects going on.....

Oatman is in Northwest Az south of kingman. Another good haunted town is Jerome. Ghost adventures has been there a couple of times

If we can't make it this trip, will have to do an overnight soon - it's only 4 hours from us, so would be a nice weekend away. Have heard about Jerome, but have never been there. Will put it on the list!

Daloorashens, I am getting a Naked neck...but it was fully feathered, and has the cutest half white half black face. Now that it is feathering in, not sure if it is still as black/white but I am in LOVE with her. Love love love. I saw her and knew she was for me :p Where did my smilies go? I cannot use them anymore.... or I would post a big fat toothy grin right there, actually none of my stuff is on here...how to post pics....anybody else having this problem?

SPHINX if you would be willing to get my chick from Aravis I would be (insert smiley on knees bowing in the "I am not worthy" stance!!) soooooo thrilled! Would you really? I would come down immediately and get her from you. I could come later tomorrow night after you get back to your house even? Or meet you somewhere close to your area for a piece of pie/something else to ruin my diet?! Then I could see the chicks you bring back from Sundance. haha :) I would have made that small type but none of that is on my page anymore. You know I always love to come visit you :) If you wanted to let me know when you are on your way back I could come....it takes me 45 min or so to get to your place from mine. I don't have Aravis' info...Cynthia might have her number? A late night would be no big deal for me. I am always up late cleaning house anyway.

I am sorry to hear about Potsie #2! She was my niece :( or great niece. ...it is just soo sad. (insert smiley hugs right here X) What to do about that little baby roo...you are positive it is a boy? Hey I have those two polish babies, a little bigger than your lone roo, you could put one of those in with him? I would be glad to give you one. I could bring them both for you to look at. Not sure with the gender on either...one is a little more girly, but really not sure at all. They are 5-6 wks old I think, and sleeping outside just fine in a cage in the coop with no heat or anything. They are the white with black crests (one is blue crested though).

Same goes for me on those Leghorn/EE's you guys all have that hatched a few months back....If they really lay the loads of blue eggs and someone decided not to keep one of them, I would love to get my hands on one (eventually)!
