Hattie, I had a partridge bantam cochin that was eggbound last Feb....posted on here and got quite a bit of help, with the oil, bathing, even (gasp) reaching in there to see if the egg could be felt....it was awful. She really got quite ill, the biggest sign that I could see was the heaving when she was breathing, and very little motion. She quit eating and drinking, and I did lose her eventually ( My DH had to assist to end the pain for her). I know others have been able to help them pass the mass, hang in there, hopefully something will work for you! The soaking in warm water sure did seem to at least relieve the pain for my girl, she really huddled down in the warm water for several hours, maybe the lightness felt good to her. I have read both yes and no to trying to break the egg, I opted not to, it seemed like the shell could damage her insides...it is so hard to know just what to do. I had a couple of weeks to try and help her before she finally got sick enough we knew there was no more we could do, hopefully you will have enough time to work with her and help her out!
