Utah!

Oh my gosh, I love you guys. I just caught up on the posts I hadn't read yet in the last two pages (or had only skimmed) It feels good to giggle so much :)

Madchicken, your BA picture makes me laugh! "Aaaargh, what you doing in here?! Get out, human!" She reminds me of the Marans I had that went broody in the spring. She'd growl if you got too close to her, then resort to biting.

Lisa, how exciting, a new layer! I hope it's your Delaware! Aww, I miss my Ellie now, always will. I hope to get another Dellie next year, if I get chickies.

Sasha, way funny about your chickens in the snow :) We got some snow today before I was headed off to work. I looked out back and saw the chickens scrambling around in the preserve. "OH MY GAWSH! What is it?!?! Ruuuun!" And then just the two pullets off to the side who weren't alarmed, but rather wanted to eat the snow to see what it was. This is going to be a fun winter, I can tell :) We just had a big storm arrive here a few minutes ago, too. My brother called me from the airport (he works there) and said I needed to put the chickens away fast. Yep, got 'em all rounded up right in time.

Hattie, I totally understand how that goes. I never thought I'd get attached to turkeys, after seeing how messy and stinky they can be. Then I got the white ones to raise for my BF, and yep, now I can't butcher them myself. And another reason I need to live closer to you! I could totally give you some EE eggs. Phooey.

So if I'm figuring this right, I now have one layer. It's the little BSL I got for my mom, and she lays about once every two days or so. The BO and RIR have become Scrooges, and I think I still have at least two unidentified egg layers that are on strike - one Wyandotte and one EE, I think. I hope they pick up a little again after they get used to the cold.

Cynthia, I definitely prefer Costco, and not just for the business practices. We get the executive membership, which costs more, but you get a percentage back. Even on years when we don't buy any real big ticket items, we get about 80% of the membership fee back in the rebate check. If we buy tires, furniture or other big ticket items, it's even better.

Hattie, I've heard bantams can be notoriously broody. That would get inconvenient (and tempting, if one has fertile eggs). How's your silkie doing?
I have a blue bantam cochin who goes broody allllllll the time. This is her brooding a golf ball. She's determined to hatch it.....and it's tempting to give her real eggs to hatch.

Poor Turkeys. I called Timoko the owner of the turkeys here. Told him they had ourgrown the pen I had them in. Also that pen had a dirt floor and now that they are wet all the time they needed to go. He came over with a friend to kill them, Unfortunatly the turkeys are so ftiendly that they came up to him doing their clucking whistle, Looking him in the eye. He came back into the house and said he couldn't kill they they were too friendly. I told him they had to go. He called another friend from Africa who said he would kill them for him. So he loaded them in Garbage bags and put them in his car, Off they gp.

Give her eggs, give her eggs, give her eggs.

I think you should give her some BCM eggs, Pawtraitart and then give me the chicks.

Sundance, I was wondering how the turkey thing worked out.

Cynthia, I totally forgot to take a picture of my partridge today. I'll try really hard to remember tomorrow. I have a closing, a girl scout activity, and a halloween party tomorrow though, so it may slip my mind.

Hahaha you guys are naughty. That's why I don't dare get a Cochin or Silkie - I wouldn't have the heart to NOT give them eggs every time.

Sundance, that's kinda sad about the turkeys. I don't look forward to when it's my girls' turn. They are such characters. Little piggies, yes, but totally worth it.
