Vacation?

Hello
We recently just moved our chickens from the brooder (big brooder) to the coop. They are currently 10-12 weeks old, and we will soon be going on vacation for a week. We need suggestions on how to feed and give the chickens water over the given timespan.

Here are some details:
We have 6 chickens, 2 reds, 2 buffs, and 2 barred rocks.

We will NOT be letting them into the run during the time we are away.

Space is limited, but we can make something work.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

A friend, family member, or neighbor should be over daily to check on things, freshen the water and make sure everything is okay. They should NOT be ignored for a week! Mary

The plan was to have someone change the water every day, but put the food in a huge bucket feeder. Our biggest problem is having a chicken jump out at someone, as our family/friends/neighbors aren't quite use to them yet. We will have to figure out a way to get them acclimated. We don't need someone trying to get the chicken inside the pen from the outside. We think we've solved the problem now, thanks.

We done a few times and here our setup.
1) 5 gal bucket with 3-4 horizontal nipples. The water will last about 3-4 weeks for 5-6 adult chickens.
2) auto threader feeder hold 40-45lbs. This will last 3-4weeks. There are lot of plans. The 5gal bucket feeder with chicken stick their necks in also work well.
3) automatic open/close door work well, but cost too much so optional (chicken guard).

Yes, we rigged up a 5 gallon bucket and turned it into a feeder. We need to work on the water situation, though.

Use a 55 gallon barrel with pvc pipe with two elbows at the bottom (I used 1/2 inch) then add a 3 ft of with cap on end and support bottom with wood so they don't break it then get some watering cups they don't leak and you don't need to decrease the pressure they are $14 for 5 of them on eBay and you only need to drill a 3/8 hole and paste the back so it keeps it tight
