Vacation

I have 12 hens and can go away for the weekend without any issues. Neighbors are more than happy to pick up free eggs. But even if not I think it would be ok for them to sit there for 3 days. Of course I would then come home to a whole PILE of eggs. It can be done, but you have to accept the risks. I accpet them just as I accept them with the daily free ranging. No losses yet. Of course though I keep traps out most all of the time and keep the varmints cleared out around my place. I think of it as the pre-emptive strike.

We have everything set up on automatic systems - feeding and watering. So we can leave for two weeks and they would be fine. Of course I am too obsessed with my chickens to do that to them. I spend time with them every day and they would miss me

or at least my daily treats.
