Vaccinate or Not

Unfortunately that isn’t necessarily true. Marek’s symptoms tend to manifest at particular ages: POL or 2+ years. So infected birds can be silent carriers for quite long periods. Longer than a typical quarantine period. Further complicating the situation is that older carriers have suppressed immune systems and may succumb to secondary conditions before marek’s tumors cause noticeable symptoms.

unpopular opinion but I do vaccinate my chicks specifically for marek's disease. I just want my small flock to be ready for whatever is thrown at them.

vaccinations are BS! If you’re not a lazy azz and keep your coop clean you won’t need any BS vaccinations.

don’t buy from hatcheries. Nasty disease infested hatch holes.

That’s not true at all. Pretty sure most people here take good care of their chickens and many have still had disease hit. It has nothing to do with if your coop is clean or not. That’s just ridiculous. Sure, that helps prevent some diseases and illnesses, but not all. And something like Mereks, that means nothing and does nothing.

I would always go to the vaccinated chicks. Its always gonna be safer if they are vaccinated.

Exactly considering Marek's usually comes from wild birds. It's nearly impossible to prevent.
