My SILKIES are now 3 weeks old. I received them from MypetChicken . They advised me that they do not vaccinate Silkies for Mareks or any other disease. I was advised on the reasoning behind their theory. My question is: should I be lucky enough to find an aviary vet as I was told my family vet does not vaccinate chickens, then at what point in time should the vaccinations occur?

You have missed the boat on a few vaccinations as they have to be done while the chick is about a day old (I am in the same situation as you) You would have to find a breeder and ask what ages he/she vaccinaes at and see for a fee if he/she will do yours at the same time but you might have missed them all.

Until this past year I have never done any vaccinations. My neighbor brought in wet form Fowl Pox and neglected to tell anyone till it had spread. Not alot of that around here, but more south it can be a problem.

What you need to do is find breeders local to you and find out what is in your area. In most cases vaccination is not really needed, unless you plan to show and then again you would want to know what is around.
