vacuum recommendations

I have had my Dyson Animal for 2 years in July, and I LOVE IT! It's amazing what it picks up, it actually make me a little sick to think about what all my old vacuum left behind

.

It's cheaper if you have a Bed Bath and Beyond around you, because you can use the 20% off coupon that they send out so often. That's what we did.

I know... when i first got my Dyson i did a little test to compare it with my old vacuum... (cause i'm cheap,, and i wanted to make sure i was getting my moneys worth...lol)
Wow... it was somethng to see the difference on what they both picked up...
I'll def get another Dyson again...

Yah, my old vacuum used a bag, and I had to change it like once a month, with this thing, it has just as much room as a bag, but I have to empty it every time I use it! SOOOO MUCH DOG HAIR!

Well, the one chick I knew bought hers used for $2oo bucks (!!!!!) from a lady 3 or so years ago cuz "it has a "lifetime guarantee"...Pssshhht. I'm thinking, "If it was so great, the lady wouldn't be selling it!" The other one is an older one, like prolly about the same age as yours. It just doesn't pick up hair off carpet @ all! It seems rather cheezy to me. I can see using it for maybe bare floors? I clean for the 2nd person mentioned, so that's how I know. The water one is a different brand, but it's just wayyyyy too heavy & has hardly any suction. I'd rather buy a cheaper one ($40-$50) every year or two & have it work great for a while, then replace, than to buy one that is just so-so & hangs on forever barely working for several hundred, or even $1000+ like the water can... JMO... That 's been my experience anyway. I wish there was a better way though!

Just a thought...my friend's moving in a few weeks to a very large house with all hardwood floors. They are very uneven, salvaged-wood type floors with lots of cracks & crevices in/around the boards & they have 2 super-longhair cats & 1 regular shorthair shed-master cat. LOL Does this Dyson work well on bare floors? She's looking for new vacuum for new floors right now!

Well, I have never really used it on bare floors, my house is all carpet except the kitchen and bathroom, and I sweep those. But My Mom has one and her house is all hardwood, except the bedrooms, and she is happy with hers.

I tried them all including the oreck, which was good if you dont need the hose/attachments. The oreck came with a handheld that was just ok.
Then i finally got a DYSON

I will never buy anything again that is not a DYSON. Its so amazing and mine is OLD and doesnt lose suction.........just like he says.
I want so bad to get the DYSON BALL........ but the canister is so small on that one so i havent. The DYSON picks up so much dirt, so fast, i fill it up too fast and thats why i worry about the size of the canister on the Ball model.
I have alot of animals and use mine alot

DYSON is so totally worth the cost.

I have 2 Miele canister vacs and I've had both for about 6 years and they work like charms. I bought them cos cats got introduced to the house where I worked and the owner of the house was highly allergic to cats (amazing what love will do for you, huh!) Well, the vacs have lasted a lot longer than the relationship! Miele are rated one of the highest for allergin removal.

One of the vacs got used as a shop vac when we were doing construction. It's now half spray painted black and the hose is held together with duck tape and it still hasn't missed a beat - unlike the guy I caught using the vac so disrespectfully!! Miele are particularly good on hard floors, however, if you have carpet I'd suggest an upgrade to the models with the rotating carpet head. These machines are not cheap but when I divide the price over 6 years of uninterrupted cleaning the $500 I spent on each isn't too bad. They can be purchased used when people have traded up, but I've never seen one on Craigslist or at a garage sale.

I love my Dyson animal and it works very well on hard floors. Lots of other vacuums I have tried on hard floors tend to blow debris away from it, but the Dyson suck it all up. The only thing I don't care for about the Dyson is the rigid attachment hose, but if I lived in a house with high ceilings I would love it.
