Is this egg a clear?
400

I only candle 10 eggs out of 33 on day 6 and had 8 of 10 going strong. This clear one and a potential bloodline one

I candled my 11 Serama eggs and every one is fertile and developing!! Feeling lucky.

I also put some of my own duck eggs in the same day, of course they won't hatch on Valentine's, but these are eggs from my own ducks and I wasn't sure if any were fertile, but 8/12 are developing!! I am thrilled, these are the first ever ducklings from my ducks that I hatched!

So it isnt looking good guys.

Out of 74 eggs set 51 look clear

That means at best i can only get a 31% hatch rate. (Contest wise we dont count clears but its still sucky.)

I'm also not in the Best Hatch Rate Contest.....because i dont want to give myself my own prize lol.

Not for VDay HAL:
Out of my 14 duck eggs that were to go into lockdown last night....11 made it in there. The other 3 were late stage quitters.

So many clears, that sucks!

I had a batch of 100 quail eggs I was incubating, My last batch of 100, 80+ were fertile and developed. This batch I have maybe 2 developing, maybe!!?? 100+ clears. I guess they got rid of their boys and didn't bother to tell me. I guess I'll feed em to the chickens.

jennianne how are your lavenders doing? I only have 3 out of 7 left. 2 were clears (I think) and 2 have blood rings (I think). Gonna give them a few more days to make sure since they are blue shells. Most of my other various eggs are still going strong.

I tried candling them yesterday, a lot have veins in the lavs eggs. My BY mix, not so much. I couldn't even see into the EE or the OE eggs at all, and a lot of the rest were iffy. I did have a couple with veins there, too, though.

My weights on both groups were real low. Lost about 3.5 grams in days 0-6. Anyone here weigh for humidity? I upped mine to 51%. It was at 45% for the first week. The humidity outside the incubator is around 30% most of the time, never more than 35%, so I think the bator is losing a lot of moisture due to the difference between the room and the bator RH.

Will try candling again maybe Sunday to see if I get better results at night. I wanted to weigh at the same time of day as they were set, so I was candling in the middle of the day last time. In a room with the blinds shut, with a blanket over my head, but still wasn't dark dark. So I need to do a repeat at night.

Looks like a lot of you are getting fertile eggs! I hear that is good this time of year to get any at all.

@misfitmorgan Sorry about the eggs! Its a cool idea, though. Have you done store eggs before?

@ChickyChickens Go Chicky go! Lol.

Okay, sorry for my absence, but I can't edit my main post.... why?

Our NY Chickenstock had the same problem last year. Seems after a certain time you can no longer edit. This year for our Chickenstock, Pyxis set up a google document that is linked to the first page.

I finally candled and found that I have 3 that appear clear and 2 that look like they have blood rings. The rest look like they have something in them

I put them all back in the bator and will wait until day 14 just to be sure.
