Valentine's Day 1st Annual Hatch Along

I'll be candling again tomorrow. I had a lot of questionable eggs on day 7. I should be able to tell for sure on day 12. Hopefully the legbar eggs will still be growing this time.

Two eggs cracked just a tiny bit..... I didn't see any cracks on the rest. Not bad for the incubator being flipped upsidedown. Actually.... One of the eggs that cracked, is my "perhaps a doubke yolker...why did I put it in the incubator?"


What is wild.....is even with a few of the eggs being VERY dirty... I don't smell any rotting eggs.

I have 6 little eggs due on Friday the 13th.

This chick just hatched from one of the eggs. I believe it is a chick from a black frizzle bantam mixed with maybe a blue splash bantam. Her name is sugar.

I think I'm in the competition? Maybe? I had 41 eggs and 10 were clears, so I'm down to 31 still in. Tough to tell on some of them because I have some Welsummer and Black Copper Maran eggs (and I'm just using a small LED flashlight and a toilet paper roll!)

We'll see! These guys will be mutts (parents are purebred) but I literally have people waiting in the wings on Facebook Swap sites to buy them! I could have 5 incubators going and sell out no problem! Must just be the time of year...
