One baby out!

finally!!!!!

so happy for you!

I too hate the... "no one is out, they must all be dead" feeling!!

Interestingly, all of my pips and hatches so far are from my EBAY lot of BY mix eggs, nothing on my LAs yet. Hmpf. Just passing the 21 day mark here in the past two hours. I am curious does anyone know if Ameracaunas tend to hatch right at 21 or a little earlier/later?

dunno about hatch time..

personay, I think if the chicks are super important to you, then they take longer.. haha

I have one right now that pipped pretty far (relatively speaking) outside where I had drawn the last air cell line.  It's a real nail biter for me.  I started seeing it rock about 20 hours ago and this morning I awoke to this wacky pip and a lot of peeping.  But after I had three hatch this morning, nothing since.  No pips, no zips.  Just peeping from a few eggs, including this one with the pip.  I am hoping it is just taking time due to the difficulty of breaking through where it is pipped and not due to a deformity.

In my experience, it seems that the mixes seem to be hardier, hatch quicker, and have less issues than the pures...

Congrats to all the successfully hatched chicks!! :D

Anyone having issues, please read this thread before making decisions (warning, it does contain very graphic photos, but has lots of good info)...

Sally Sunshine also has a Hatching 101 thread that has lots of good info...

Keep up the awesome updates!!

I didn't realize i was set to participate in this thread or I would have jumped on board sooner. Here is my Dark Cornish surrogate. She unhappily allowed me to get pics of the 3 Pakistani Asil chicks shes brooding. :D 3 out of 14 eggs, but 9 eggs never started. I'm still happy and impressed with the results since she has an unheated crate and still managed to hatch some eggs in NE pa this time of year.
