Yikes....I was REALLY hoping everyone of these would hatch too....But I was excited to see the little baby out already...the other barred rock baby is doing well and is standing and peeping and searching out his hatch mates...so I am hoping he is doing well! I AM NOT opening the bator to take anyone out I don't want to shrink wrap the baby pipping!
Something I don't understand....I see alot of folks fishing out babies that are fluffed to the brooder...are y'all waiting till there is none pipping? or moving them while others are pipping? Won't that shrink wrap the ones pipped? I stopped opening my bator to "help" chicks and have stopped having shrink wrap issues.(I say that now its gonna happen that I have to help one!) ugh....just wondering.

Well all the ones from me will MOST likely look like little black Marans with gold little wings or white wing tips for now...some splashes of white here and there....ALL olive eggers and WOW are Dads genes strong....maybe a little cleopatra eyed one here and there! I'm glad so many made it through the PO Gauntlet! Seems if you get half you are durn lucky!Lemme know how they turn out!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I can't tell what's hatched right now and what's left because my bator is crammed with chicks. I think 9 have hatched though, so that leaves 15 left to hatch. I have a lot of cute chicks in there, but they're going to have to wait until 5 PM today to be rescued to the brooder.

Hi from Ga. I had 2 hatch on the 13th. None on the 14th. 3 of the remaining look viable so I'll leave in the hatcher and will see what happens. So I do have 2 nice little pretty baby's. I wish everyone well on their hatch's.

Probably depends on the incubator. I have a Brinsea and it gets FULL once there are about 10 chicks in there, so once I see lots of little faces pressed up against the plastic I remove them to the brooder. Haven't had any shrinkwrap problems doing this, but my Advance EX recovers temp and humidity quite quickly.

We have 4 incubators going, two big kinda tall hova's will SUCK and Vaccum down, when you open it and cold air, not to mention humidity WHOOSH in. We HAVE moved chicks after a couple of days when there are so many, that they are playing soccer with the eggs remaining. BUT we open it super slow to create no suction and never during a pip. I just like to leave them all in there to fluff and dry and am now putting all my eggs shipped or not in cardboard cartons and it works great! the babies can't soccer them around and our hatches are already better....unless it is this one!! ugh...
We got another pip!! this one from our other egg from here on the farm! that will be two olive eggers for us too!! KEEPIN 'EM!!!

My first chicks had already been out for over 24 hours. I had 26 chicks walking around a hovabator and on top of everyone. My humidity was at a constant 90 and the window was half fogged. If anything, I was trying to vent a little of it. The chicks were so damp they couldn't really dry any further. By picking up the edge of the lid, I was able to quickly slip them out to let the first chicks finish drying in the brooder. The humidity still didn't drop below 89.

i have 9 fluffy chicks i had to move to my brooder they started playing soccer with the eggs when we had 4 in there so i took them out and went to bed i had 3 more in the morning fluffy and jumping on my eggs i had one the half hatched and it died it was stuck upside down cause they flipped it over i was so sad it wasn't breathing yeah it sucked...

then i had one hatch but it looks really weak not moving much and i haven't seen it open its eyes. so if it makes it i have 10 plus 2 zips and 3 pips but i have 30 eggs in there i hope i get more then 10 chicks...

Truly a terrible hatch for me

I ended up with 14 total. I gave up and tried to help the two shipped eggs that had pipped in the middle and still hadn't hatched yet but they were both too weak. One died and I put the other one down this morning. The rest had all expired without pipping. I did end up with 1 healthy shipped chick from PeeperKeeper and the rest are my own Iowa Blues and IaB/EEs. I think I have better hatches when I hand turn instead of using the automatic turner

I think I'll take a hatching break until we set the Easter Hatch.

yikes! They would never dry! 90% Do you have a little access window on top? some of mine do but the bigger hovabators are glued down, you would have to pick up the lid...Do you put your eggs in cartons? or trays or anything? I can use the access window pretty good without disturbing the humidity to much in the smaller I guess they are LG's...but the temp will fall if you arent careful AND then I always burn my danged hand on the element! that is one thing I hate about those kind...The lid is low and the chicks start walking around on other eggs in a carton....they are tall enough to get burned on the element...when that happens I start yanking em out of there...I hate that! ~ Cyndy
