Valentine's Day present

She's adorable!

Good to hear they both made it home safely. Enjoy your new baby!!

I've never actually seen a silkie up close before.
The feathering on the feet is amazing but I think her feathers have seen better days.
Sparkles smells like horses. (not that that is a bad smell but she is a chicken)
Her feet are really crusty with dried poop.
I think a bath might be in order once she settles in.
I'm in love, best Valentine's present ever!!

I don't own silkies, but as I understand it, they do need baths occasionally.

Keep us updated on her settling into her new digs. :)

I actually wanted a silkie for Vday too!!! But my eggs didn't hatch :( I got eggs to hatch and they froze so I have one viable egg but it came late so its not due until the 16th, we shall see if it even hatches... BUT! The glass is never empty for me, I went and bought myself some chicks at the feed store

a lil EE and two Plymouth rocks! Nothing better than chicks for Vday!!! Congrats on Sparkles, she's cute, love me some silkies!

Congrats on your Valentine's chicks.
I hope your egg hatches on the 16th.
Who needs chocolate and champagne when you can get chickens.
Much better in my opinion.
Keep us posted on that egg.

Thank you for the link, I appreciate it.

hollymh,

How is the egg today?

Sparkles hasn't had a bath yet but she smells better.
Guess my "stink" is rubbing off on her.
I took a bubble bath today and let her play in the bathroom.
I think she is in love with the washing machine door...maybe she can see her beautiful reflection.
She has a healthy appetite but she doesn't drink much?
What's that about?
My other three hens are water hogs.
Silkies don't drink much??
