valley quail first time

Usually when you up the humidity from a lower % or add water, condensation will build up on the glass. Completely normal. It will dissipate over time. You can go as high as 60% and holding, during incubation with Valley quail.

yeah i add some water the humidity is droping to fast i dont know y the incubator is closed :(

If the air in the room you are using the incubator is dry, it will certainly effect the humidity of the incubation. If your vents are wide open, that too will lower the humidity.

But on this note, it is best to keep the vents wide open to allow oxygen in the bator, as a lack of oxygen will kill the embryos.

What you can do to keep the humidity stable and high enough is add a wet sponge to the bator. Get a sponge or a piece of a new CLEAN kitchen sponge and wet it down. Wring it out so that it is not dripping wet, but not completely dry either. Put that in right with the eggs. Check the sponge a few times a day, or just monitor the humidity. You may need to re-wet the sponges a couple times a day.

Oh...and right after adding this sponge, the humidity may spike 10%. Don't worry at this point, it won't hurt anything. The humidity will settle down in about 30 mins. If it stays too high, then remove half of the sponge. If a piece of sponge is not bringing up the humidity enough, add more sponge.

hello guys im very very very angry my team benfica lost the title yesterday to porto im from portugal and second my higrometer wasnt working right i bought one today and im having 60% and the other was showing 35% this means i ruined my eggs 4sure the first 3 days with 70 or 80 % humidity :(:(:(:(:( should i abort this hatch???

Thanks :(

What day are you on?

You did not necessarily ruin the eggs. What humidity is responsible for is allowing enough moisture to be lost from the egg so the air sac develops to the proper size, and allows for proper chick growth and room inside the egg and good transfer of nutrients to the growing baby. If there is not enough humidity, it can completely destroy the air cell, and the yolk will dry out and starve the growing embryo to death. If it is too wet, the air sac will not grow large enough for the pipping stage, and wet conditions do not offer proper conditions for good growth of the chick. That is why monitoring the air cell at the top of the egg is so important. Just because your humidity gauge reads a number, it is the size of the air cell that really tells you what is going on inside an egg. Here is an example of a chicken egg, which can be used as well for quail embryos. This is how an air cell should look with proper humidity levels...

This is what you are shooting for. So having high humidity for a few days is probably not going to hurt anything. Just get it down to a respectable level and things should go well. Candle your eggs every few days to monitor the air cell and if you can see inside well enough, look for blood veins and such. You should start to see these things by day 8. If your air cell is not growing fast enough, lower the humidity. If it is growing too fast, raise the humidity. After a few hatches, you will learn what to expect and how to deal with this issue. :)

The days start to count down the very second you set them. So if you set your eggs at noon the 10th, at noon on the 11th is the end of day 1, starting day 2. On the 12th would be the end of day 2, starting day 3 and so on. So on the 17th or 18th you can give them a candling.

Don't let the humidity drop much below 50% for long periods of time. Try to keep it somewhere between 50% and 60%.

Oh, and don't forget to breathe. Keeps your mind calm. You will do fine. :)

its my second time the first was jap quails this time is valley quail and china quails the litle ones lets see what happens ;)
