    Which is best, the Pod or the extract?
    The cake recipe I'm using (got it from Grandma) can use either one.
    My last experince with the extract didn't give a vanilla tatse that the cake needed, I'm considering the pod, but not sure. [​IMG]

    IM0 extract. It is easier to controll how much vanillia flavor you add to a dish. Just be sure to get pure vanilla extract. It is so much better than the cheaper artificial stuff.

    I buy vanilla beans in bulk off ebay and make my own. It works best if you let them sit in the alcohol for about 6 mos. I usually make it in the summer so I will have it for my holiday baking. This year I am sending some of my relatives vanilla beans and a recipe to use it so they can make thier own for the holidays as well.
