Vaseline sage lubricant for checking vent for egg?

Is Vaseline safe to use as a lubricant to check a hen’s vent for a stuck egg? I have a barred rock who isn’t acting herself and I haven’t had an egg from her in a few days. Her eggs are usually huge so I’m worried she is egg bound.
