Absolutely, this is an example of humane milking. It has to happen in this situation because the cow already has their baby and are producing too much milk. It's for her health.My neighbors had a milk cow and when she called they did milk sharing because of how much cows produce, the calf couldn't drink enough, if they didn't milk her it would be very painful for her udders. Fun fact, the mom would keep the high fat cream for her baby, lol. Leslie said she could feel that she was holding her milk back. Animals never cease to amaze me.
Personally, I wouldn't want to use it, even in that situatuon. I would simply use the dairy for other animals, or for family.
I do the same thing with my ducks, they honestly produce more eggs than they can eat, so the extras go to my dogs and to family
