Me too!!! I lurves them. I'm on 2 week raw diet for a cleansing. I'm not against vegan/vegatarianism per se, just be careful what you say to who and take into consideration many minors frequent here.. including some folks in this thread.

I'm sure that's so, but you have to remember that three people are not at all representative of a population. I could name a LOT of overweight meat eaters, as well as a lot of skinny meat eaters. Same goes for vegetarians, though I haven't met any morbidly obese vegetarians yet. (Not saying they don't exist, though! I'm sure they're out there.) As has been said very eloquently a few times in this thread, people can make unhealthy choices regardless of whether they're omnivores, vegetarians, vegans, or...whoever! Regardless of what we choose to eat, we should try to choose things that are good for us.

I believe that was my point. They are teens, they are not educated in nutrition and therefore are not making healthy choices. Although, the one who is educated seems to only go along with the more balanced nutrition by force not choice. Of course being a teenager, she has a natural ability to make everything seem like it's being forced upon her.

The fact that they are all overweight is just an added curiosity not the point of my post.

Direct quote from the original post:

" just wanted to post to have a thread where we vegetarians (including vegans, of course) of BYC can talk! I know there are at least a few of us on here who have chosen not to eat animals for whatever reason, and it's always nice to have other vegetarians to talk to who understand. This is NOT a thread to bash people who choose to eat meat, so please be polite to all members of BYC regardless of dietary choices, but of course we can share our viewpoints and whatnot."

Seems to have strayed a bit off topic. Ya'll behave!

I am one of those who leans towards vegetarianisn, but my weakness is bacon. I tried the veggie bacon, but it just didn't do it for me.
I do have a new cookbook about vegetarian cooking and am slowly incorporating the recipes into my diet.

Mostly because DH and I both have family histories of heart disease.

Folks if this is not your cup of tea, please refrain from posting.

Please keep this s discussion on topic, not a bashing from either side of the debate.

I have never tried to be a vegan or vegetarian. I do, however, subscribe to a healthy way of eating. And because I lack iron in massive amounts, I am lucky enough to be TOLD to eat beef. Good thing because I do love me a steak!!!! On the other hand, because I am fat, I try my best to stick to fruit and and veggies to fill me up.
