Hen Med brown with white speckles coloring had 15 eggs! 11 hatched, 1 was just coming out of the egg I guess hen pecked it. Didin't survive. 1 egg roten and the other 2 not viable. Out of the 11, 5 were black with some white, two of them had a more rounded body with some feathers(?) on their legs. Sooo. Possibly the Black bronze Silky looking rooster mated. The others were yellow, light brown with black stripes and couple borwn ones.

The hen had her box way up but once chicks hatched, put the box down to the top of the shelf. Then to the lowest shelf so that the chicks would follow the mom. Late afternon, they would come baxk to the box. ad one yellow chick lost the mom so since being the smallest I put it with the hen with the new chciks Hen rejected it pecked then the chick went toanother hen with 3 chicks left. (She had 5). She accepted it.

Today, it looked like that chick tried to go back to the mom but I found it lying still with bloody head. Still alive, I cleaned it up. It looked like surface though eyes were shut. I have it in the box under a heat lamp giving it water once in awhile. It does not want to eat though. Its a little better moving around anc chriping.

Late afternoon 4 ish, I found 5 of the black chicks hudded together. Their mom was sitting keeping her other chicks warm. Once the hen moved the black chicks tried to be with her but were pecked repeatedly. So I ended up gathering them and will try to raise them a long with the yellow one.

I'll try to post pics later.

I personally keep a list of hens that shouldn’t be allowed to hatch chicks. If you get any more injuries, I would remove the chicks and raise them yourself. It sounds like she’s going after the chicks that aren’t brown? Some chickens are like that, and will only raise the chicks that look like them, or that look like the first to hatch.

Couple of the early ones to hatch were black. The small yellow one probably was one of the last ones so that might of been it. That one still has its eye shut. The black ones I scooped up are doing well. They were crying for their mom at first but when I gave them the starter food and water, they were happy.
