Vegetarian & Low Carb Recipes And Discussion

Oh Wife..

I've heard of those "bean brownies" but I've been too SKEERED to try them

I'm afraid I'm going to get something that tastes like a refried brownie HA HA HA!

You tried them yet?

Not yet, but Carolyn has been really good about pointing me to good recipes over the last 2 years. Either she is a good recipe picker or both of us have terrible taste buds!

LOL!

I saw that recipe in my Low Carb cook book and 6 week body makeover plan... I kept hemming and hawing about it but still think its going to taste like refried beans at some point in time.

Now I'm worried my brownies wont taste good to someone ELSE... its been a while since I've made them -about a year. Hmmm..hope my tastebuds arent off HA HA!

Time to go to the kitchen and whip up a batch! ROFL! I simply cant post something that tastes icky...

*running to kitchen now*

DONT ANYONE MAKE THEM UNTIL I COME BACK

Okay - they're in the oven now..

I substituted the nonfat plain yogurt for no-fat sour cream (didnt have any yogurt) I've done that before though, and they've turned out fine.

I'm using all oatmeal, but using 1/2 splenda and 1/2 sugar (full splenda upsets my stomach).

Gimme 30 mins and I'll take a pic and tell ya what they taste like

Just been a while since I've made them and I want to make sure I get it right. This is my own recipe that I modified from a regular brownie recipe.

Okay PC - here they are - and taste GREAT! Chewy and cripsy just like I like them, but soft too - like a brownie should be. The edges are my favorite parts

Cooked for 33 minutes in a 9X6 pan (8X8 would work too) I'd rather use this size to give me HUGE brownies

Please post it here. I'd be willing to give it a shot. I've never
had tofu but just look at it as a vegie Spam.

This is for Tofu Fries - This is a SNACK - don't eat it every day

Take 1 pkg of firm water packed tofu. Slice it and press it between two plates with paper towels. Set something heavy on top of the top plate.
Press for 20-60min.

Heat oven to 500 degrees - grease cookie sheet - spread tofu fries on cookie sheet - cook for 20 mins until toasty brown

I don't eat tofu any more because of soy/estrogen issues, but when I was all-veg, my fave thing was similar to this.

Extra-firm tofu, sliced and pressed like crazy to get all the moisture out, then seasoned, covered in barbecue sauce, and baked until the sauce caramelizes. SERIOUSLY tasty.
