Vegetarians ( and Vegans ) Thread!!!

How does that work... your husband hunting while you are a vegetarian? Just curious.
It didn't work so well for quite a few years and I tried to force him to stop, but he would go hunting without telling me, I have come to realize that he's entitled to live his life the way he wants and I'm entitled to the same, I can't help making faces and gagging when he's trying to cook meat. I have found him helpful when animals need culling, as he will do it for me without question.

Hi! I was worried for a little bit that I was the only vegetarian on this website lol. While I've tried being vegan, having a picky toddler with a limited budget has caused me to reconsider my diet. However, I absolutely love animals and wouldn't think of raising or keeping chickens for meat-- not to knock on anyone who does! I've just found myself unable to reconcile my love of animals with killing them for food

There's a few of us here. My husband occasionally makes meals out of a few of my birds here and there, mostly roosters and Tom turkeys. I find meat disgusting, but cheese delicious. Nice to not be alone.

Oh yay! Yeah if I find out my daughter's dad is feeding her meat despite our mutual agreement to raise her vegetarian, I'm going to be really upset (knowing there's nothing I can do about it) but if she tells me she wants chicken one day I'm going to take her into the backyard and tell her to take her pick. Hopefully meeting her meat will be her wakeup call

My cow and pig friends were routinely butchered when I was a kid. I think if you are willing to eat it, you should be willing to kill it. I never had kids, I have dogs, they eat chicken, I'm a hypocrite.

Natural Balance makes a vegan dog food. (It is called vegetarian on the bag, but is actually vegan.) Our dogs have been on it for a long time and have not had any issues. Before that, when our kids were small and I wasn't working, I made the dog food, using our chickens' eggs for protein. But that is pretty time consuming.

My brother feeds that, his dogs are all dried out. My dogs need meat to be healthy, so I will continue to be a hypocrite. Thank you though. I just personally find it disgusting to eat it.

Same here. Half of my freezer is filled with meat for the dogs, cats, and previously fish. Still have no desire to personally eat it though.

Oh dear! Looking at that post and your avatar, Kevin 565 - did your cat eat your fishes? (I agree, by the way, that some animals need to eat meat - and we are still watching the dogs very closely for signs of deficiencies. But so far, so good.)
