Vegetarians ( and Vegans ) Thread!!!

Kev, I prefer the soy milk as well. I love it !

I personally do not drink milk. For personal reasons as well as I find it to fattening for my tastes. Humans don't need milk but it does contain some vitamins. I've tried rice milk but still prefer soy milk.
Ok, I have a question for the vegetarians/vegans out there. Milk? What's your take on the subject? I love milk although I really only drink it a few times a month. I have been "wasting" money on different types of milk ~ trying to find the right milk for me.

So far, this is what I have tried.

Silk VERY vanilla soymilk :drool

Almond milk (tried EVERY brand on the market) - Tastes like Mylanta

Coconut milk (tried EVERY brand on the market) - Tastes like Mylanta Plus

I am now on the hunt for rice milk. Anyone drink rice milk? Why do humans need milk? Calcium for our bones?

What's your favorite milk to drink if any at all? :idunno

:pop

I found rice milk to be way to watery, but will use it. I keep soy on hand in the cupboard for emergencies.Thought I would LOVE coconut milk, but I disliked it very much. I like the vanilla almond. I think there is hemp milk, and you could easily make your own oat milk.

I guess rice milk is out for me, since it's watery. Thanks for letting me know.

This is what I grilled last night on my newly purchased grill. Bean sprouts, shredded carrots, garlic, red onions, snap beans, asparagus and parsley. If I knew how to cook tofu, I could have added that. Maybe next time.

If you grill tofu get the extra firm and press it in between kichen/paper towels to get out the excess moisture. Some people like to marinate it in a favorite sauceDo that for a few hours to get a good soak up.Some of the asian sauces would be good like asian barbecue or hoisin.

For the record, humans do not need milk. Any type. But in switching many folks want to drink something familiar. The problem with other types of milk though is that none of them taste like cow milk and many folks expect it to. It's pretty hard to eat cold cereal without some type of milk though. Water just doesn't get it. And juice on it is just.. YUK.

Well that would explain why it didn't turn out right when I cooked it last week. It was horrible. :sick

And thanks for the tip on the Asian sauces. I wanted to ask that when I posted the pic but forgot. Although the meal was good, I think it could have been better with an Asian sauce. Thanks again for the tip. I will get some this week and add. ;)

Yea, a good glass of milk is good every now and then. :drool

Wow I am glad to have found this thread. I have not yet read all the replies. I am a vegetarian. I do not eat eggs and try to not eat dairy because I believe chickens raised for eggs are treated worse than anything. Same with dairy cows. One of the things I found to replace cream in dishes is Cashew cream. http://nouveauraw.com/frosting/delicate-vanilla-frosting/ In this recipe it is used as a frosting but it can be made to use in other dishes such as soup as well.

I give my eggs from my chickens to my daughter who has a bakery :)
