I have 2 silkies playing musical chairs with one lone silkie egg. Its halfway through at day 11 today. I had a broody who lost the egg, it rolled away from her. A second silkie jumped on it. So the second one was committed for a few days....just long enough for the original broody to snap out of being broody
And now it seems that I am the only one committed to this egg. I find it alone in the middle of the floor and stuff it under whoever is laying to keep it warm. I know it was developing fine....but now i dont know what is going to happen. If it actually hatches, i am going to have to come up with a name that will reflect how bad the odds were against this poor thing making it (open to suggestions) In reading this post, i hope it does not mess it up because i have to move it so much to keep it under a silkie. Plus the times it gets neglected
I dont think it has much chance....but i am going to keep trying til the end
Hand turning them is fine ...it's the extra candling along with that, that will ruin hatches....when I turn my eggs on day 7, 14, and 18...I make sure its the same time that I've to turn the eggs....
