Velvet Needs Help...Puzzler...Any Ideas? ***She's Dead****

I'm so sorry Cyn - As soon as I saw "She's Dead" in the title I was tearing up for her, for you, for your DH, for Suede. This world is so blasted infuriating sometimes - so many innocents robbed of life. It just isn't right. I am terribly sorry. Poor Velvet. One thing your little ones are not robbed of, howver, is love - they get that in spades. If you can, take some comfort in this. Hugs from afar. :aww:hit

Oh, I don't know what to say! I just found this thread and it makes me sick to my stomach to think of all you two have gone through this year. I am just heartsick for you.

2008 has proven a bad year for many... I am sorry for your loss, I just stumbled upon this post. Your birds are all so lovely and your such a wonderful chicken mom! I will keep you, your family, and your chickens in my thoughts and prayers..

Oh Cyn - I'm so sorry - I just found this thread. You have been through so much. Velvet is my black orp's mama so she will live on. He's getting sooooo big and when he runs he looks like a Tennessee Walker horse and lifts his feet and legs up and down as he runs - quite funny to watch. I'm sure there are many Velvet babies out there today because of her.

So, so sorry to hear about Velvet. It sounds like all her systems were shutting down, for whatever the reason. I do have one thought on the super hard molts. A couple of years ago, my girls were going through that. The feed I was using contained only plant protein. I changed to a local feed that contains animal protein as well as plant protein. It made a world of difference in my girls molts and I have only had one end up with ascites since then as well. Just food for thought for future. I agree with everyone that your chickens have the best of everything. I'm just sorry you've had such a hard year.
