Those are my thoughts as well.....

They should say what there fertility rate is even though they could be lying. SQ or "show quality" eggs are also bad to say. They said they have won ribbons and some even say they will hatch out to be show quality. did that make sence? lol

ok take this for example

This is false advertising as there is no such thing as sport marans being rare and only a handful of breeders have themm. its just a mutt

Huh?

It doesn't sound like you trust anyone who sells eggs, so what difference does it make to you what they say? You're not going to believe anything they say anyway.

lol. what I am trying to say is that yes there bird may be show quality but there could be a gene that can hatch out mixed or whatever. I buy only on here cause 99.9% of the people are honest. I see your trying to flam me which is pretty rude.

anyway saying high fertility wont gurantee you hatch rate for shipped eggs.

high fertility to them could mean 50% or even 40%

That can happen to any species, anytime, anywhere, and that should be considered common knowledge. If someone actually says "these eggs will produce show winners" in their ad, then obviously they don't know what they're talking about, but I've yet to see that. If you or anyone can direct me to an auction where it actually says anything like this, I would appreciate it.

Once again, huh? How exactly am I flaming you? I guess if you consider my disagreeing with your questionable logic flaming, then yes, guilty as charged.

I seriously doubt that anyone would consider those numbers a high fertility rate, but if you are that concerned about it, you can always ask the seller what he or she considers a high fertility rate to be.

If you think Chellester is trying to flame you you must not know her very well. I think you need to not look for offense all the time. I understand some unfortunate things have happened to you on this board recently, but Chellester wasn't one of the people involved.

I will give you a link to one of them

Once you take in a breeders lines you should not say there name as they are your lines. If i bought hattrick silkies I would never say these are SQ eggs because they came from hattrick. Cause it will give them a bad rep if the eggs comes out a mixed color.

Please dont think I dont trust anyone who sells eggs as I have never bought SQ quaility eggs. I just buy hatching eggs and thats it.

well it was pretty rude to assume that I dont trust anyone. maybe I over reacted a bit but I dont like people who assume things

The term "SQ" is badly misrepresented out there. If the parents are actually "SQ" you do have less work to bring your own stock up to standard than starting with a barnyard quality bird. That is a simple truth. But beyond that there are really no absolutes.

This is a good discussion and lets not get it shut down due to strong language and feeling the need to defend. Back to the topic at hand please.

But that doesn't say the eggs will produce show quality birds. It just says their breeders are show quality. Nor does it guarantee high hatch rates because of the risk of shipping.
