After giving my poor hen her first epsom salt bath after discovering she has vent gleet, this came out of her?? Not sure what it is or if it is a symptom of vent gleet.

I’m a first time chicken owner and I only have 3. I’m pretty sure she has vent gleet. I noticed my Piper not being her usual self, laying down and slowly blinking her eyes, not running with my other chickens. When I checked there was hard white chunks stuck to her feathers and little white spots around her vent as well.

I’d also appreciate feedback if what I’m doing is right for vent gleet! I’m doing the isolation, epsom bath, ACV, and yogurt mixed in her food. It’s only been one day since I’ve started these things based on: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/vent-gleet-aka-nasty-chicken-butt.64647/

Photos of her, her poop and vent?

Vent Gleet is a continual white/yellow pasty discharge that has a yeasty smell.

Hard white chunks on the feathers sounds like stuck on poop.

When was her last egg?
What do you feed?
How old is she?

If she's not laid an egg and should have, give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 now, then once daily for a week.

Do you still have that poop, if you do, what's it like and can you cut it open? It's hard to tell if that's lash material or perhaps a piece of cecal core, intestinal lining, etc.

She is only 18 weeks or so, she is not laying eggs yet. The discharge is more green/yellow now and her cloaca was leaking when I took the photo.

She is still on dumor starter/grower.

The piece that came out I didn’t keep but some more solid stuff came out, but it was a lot thinner and smaller and when I cut it it was just that white color all the way through.

What do you feed, including treats?
Do you provide oyster shell free choice?

That looks like egg material to me. I'd give her 300mg Calcium Citrate+D3 now, then once daily for a week. Hopefully this will help her expel whatever it is.

See that she's eating a nutritionally balanced poultry feed and drinking well.

Sorry I realized i didn’t answer all of your questions when I first replied, the phone screen is so small I should use my computer!

food is dumor starter grower feed. Treats have been scratch, dry and moist mealworms. I do have oyster shells and layer feed stocked and will put some out for her.

The piece that came out is dry now but I cut it open anyways and included the picture. Some more yellowish solid squishy stuff came out, but it was a lot thinner and smaller. When I cut it, it was just that yellowish color all the way through.

But thank you yes I’ll also get those vitamins for her. I’m not entirely sure if my flock is all hens but I hope none of them have to go through this as well!

Looks somewhat like a shell membrane, hard to tell.

I'd definitely get the calcium into her and see if she's able to expel anything.

Thank you so much for the advice. I made sure the other chickens have layer feed and oyster shells too. Piper seemed to have a bit more energy today than yesterday so I’ll update if needed thank you again!
