Hi Guys,
I posted a thread recently about my 18month old hybrid hen who laid an egg with blood on it and as a result was vent pecked by the others to the extent that they ended up tearing through the top of her vent. I bathed her twice daily in sea salt and followed up with Vetericyn Plus on the wound. I am happy to report the wound fully healed but her eggs were still coming out daily with blood on shell. Yesterday was the first time she laid with no blood on egg shell and again this morning there was no blood and I was delighted. But to my shock after she laid this morning I went to put her back out with the girls and she did a poop in the kitchen which was completely laced with blood. Brought her to vet who checked with a scope all the way up inside her vent and said everything looked perfect, no cuts, tears, bumps. She is in top form-active, eating non-stop, drinking, etc. All other poops throughout the day have been normal and it has been over 8hrs since this happened. The only one with the blood was direct after she laid the egg. Coccidiosis came to mind but since it only happened once and all other poops since were fine, plus she's in great form and none of the other girls have blood in poop or are acting weird I am inclined to think it's not Cocci and more so to do with a reproductive system injury or health issue beyond where the vet could see. Does anyone have any suggestions? Pic attached. Sorry it's not pleasant.
